Stop trusting irresponsible piercers who think a 3 day course or YouTube university is a formal apprenticeship. It's NOT. It's an absolute disservice to YOU.
There’s a video going around right now of a piercer who needle stuck themself mid bridge piercing. Kept going. Finished the piercing. Put the jewelry in. Took photos. Posted it as promo.
I need you to understand what a needle stick actually is in this industry. It’s not an oops. It’s not a paper cut. A needle stick is the single scariest thing that can happen in a piercing studio, MAJOR protocols that kick in immediately, documentation, and the ability to shut your whole shop down for the day while it’s handled correctly.
We have all had accidents but continuing to work with no stopping is beyond irresponsible!
Here’s the part that’s going to p**s you off more than the video already has. There are no laws stopping this. No regulations. Nothing. Anybody can watch some TikToks, take a weekend course, hang a sign, and call themselves a professional piercer. That’s not new and it’s not going away.
What you can do is your homework before you sit in someone’s chair. Find a piercer not just with 1 million followers, but someone who shows their work, continues their education and admits the minute something goes wrong.
Last week I did a crooked piercing. It happens. I told the client, I fixed it, I moved on. It’s not about never messing up. It’s about what you do the second after it happens🩷
