"Edge effect is where two disciplines come together, that's where the richest ideas come from [and] solutions come from," Dr. Kumara Sidhartha said at the end of last night's Creative Conversations at Neptune's Cape Cod.

Last night's event, which brought together two separate disciplines — the arts and healthcare — was a step towards understanding how the arts can play a pivotal role in addressing the region's needs when it comes to individual and community health.

We'd like to thank our three panelists, Dr. Sidhartha, Real Eyes Truth Inc. Co-founder and Clinical Director Dr. Raja Sinjab, and artist and Army combat veteran Naomi Czupryna for shining a light on the connection between creativity and wellness.

We'd also like to thank our Creative Exchange Program Manager Amy Neill for organizing a great event and to all who showed up to participate in the conversation and to think about ways the two sectors can collaborate to enact positive change in our community.

Dr. Kumara Sidhartha has spent nearly three decades as a physician. Tonight at our Creative Conversations at Neptune's Cape Cod, he shared how he has seen the positive impacts the arts can have on improving our health and wellness.

It was one of the interesting nuggets that came out of a wonderfully inspiring discussion focused on ways the arts can be used as a tool in addressing individual and community well-being.

Co-founder and Clinical Director Dr. Raja Sinjab for an insightful and moving talk on WCAI-FM's The Point about the power of the arts as a catalyst for healing.
