Our Black-Footed Ferret Rediscovery Day Party is this Saturday, September 26th from 11am-2pm in our Education/Event Center!
During our celebration, guests will have an exclusive opportunity to meet our black-footed ferret and domestic ferret ambassadors and learn about the conservation efforts that are helping bring their species back from the brink of extinction.
Join us for learning, crafts, and fun in our Education Center as we highlight the ecological importance of black-footed ferrets and prairie dogs in our native ecosystems. (This is a FREE event!)
Twice thought to be extinct, the "rediscovery" of this iconic species in 1981 sparked conservation efforts that, for 35 years, have reintroduced hundreds of black-footed ferrets into the wild. As the only ferret species native to North America and a "flagship species" for the North American prairie, their reestablishment is critical to conservation efforts, affecting hundreds of unique plants and animals that depend on a healthy prairie ecosystem.
Black-footed ferrets remain one of North America’s most endangered mammals living in the wild today at 17 reintroduction sites.
