The Hutchinson Art Center is proud to host a retrospective exhibition of work by renowned artist Patricia “Pat” Potucek starting at the end of July and lasting through the month of August.

The Hutchinson Art Center is organizing this exhibition in cooperation with Pat Potucek’s family. Along with curating artworks from the Hutchinson Art Association Permanent Collection and the private collections of the family, the Hutchinson Art Center is requesting the public to lend artwork by Pat Potucek from their collections for this exhibit. The Hutchinson Art Center also encourages lenders to share a fond memory of Pat Potucek and/or a story connected to the loaned artwork, which will go on display with the artwork.

The exhibit will be on display in the Main Gallery July 31st through August 29th, 2026, with an opening reception on Friday evening, July 31st from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

**Lenders can loan 1-2 works of art by Pat Potucek for this exhibit. Lenders must deliver their artwork and paperwork to the Hutchinson Art Center between May 11th and July 24th, 2026 during regular business hours.**

If you are interested in lending artwork by Pat Potucek from your collection for this exhibit, you can get the art on loan form by visiting our website at https://www.hutchinsonartcenter.net/call-for-art-pat-potucek-retrospective, or stop by in-person and get the form from the Front Desk. Last Friday, we wrapped up another successful year of Kids Summer Art Camp!

This year's Art Camp focused on teaching children drawing techniques so that they can draw anything they want! They learned how to draw from imagination as well as real-life observation, and how tracing and reference photos can be used in their drawing process.

Thank you to all our students, parents and grandparents, volunteers, and our wonderful teacher Hannah Beam for making it such a ✨GREAT✨ Summer Art Camp!

See y'all next year! 👋

The Hutchinson Art Center's consignment auction isn't the only art auction happening this month!

The Hutchinson Public Library will be holding an auction for selected items from their artwork collections next week on Saturday, June 27th. Bidder registration starts at 9:00 AM, with the auction starting at 11:00 AM.

With new generations of artists flourishing in Kansas, they want to revitalize their collection with new works, artists, mediums, and subjects. To achieve that goal, they went through a careful evaluation process to determine where we could make room in their current collection for up and coming artists. The proceeds of this auction will enable their patrons to check out and take home the diverse and exciting artwork presently being created in the Heartland.

Artwork is on display NOW on the first floor of the Library and is currently visible on their gallery page at https://sites.google.com/hutchpl.org/artauction.

"Souls Rendered" by Hannah Lounsbury is ✨ NOW ✨on display in our Front Gallery!

Hannah Lounsbury is a multidisciplinary artist and educator whose work is rooted in expressive portraiture. Working across large-scale painting, oil pastel, and drawing, her practice explores emotion, identity, and the complexity of human experience. Her portraits move through, either, likeness and accuracy, or capturing fleeting states of vulnerability, tension, and introspection.

Through a balance of bold mark-making, color (or lack thereof), and careful observation, Lounsbury creates figures that feel both immediate and unresolved. Some of her work focuses on realism and capturing likeness, while others are created through layered surfaces and gestural lines. This allows her subjects to exist in space between realism and abstraction, where emotion takes precedence over precision.

In addition to her studio practice, Lounsbury works as an educator in Hutchinson, fostering creative confidence and critical thinking in her students. This dual role informs her work, grounding it in both technical exploration and a continued curiosity about how individuals see themselves and others.

This exhibition is on display in the Front Gallery through July 3rd, 2026.

Are you an art collector who has artwork to sell? You are in luck! The Hutchinson Art Center is currently accepting artwork for our upcoming 2026 Autumn Consignment Art Auction.

The Hutchinson Art Center is looking for original vintage artwork by well-known local and regional artists. While all forms of artwork are accepted, paintings, drawings, original prints, and 3D work (sculpture, ceramics, glasswork) are preferred. We will accept artist reproduction prints of original artwork if the print has been produced in limited quantities (i.e., limited edition) and signed by the artist. All artwork must be, at minimum, in good condition.

If you or someone you know would be interested in consigning or donating artwork for our upcoming auction on November 14th, 2026, now is the time to do so. Please deliver artwork to the Hutchinson Art Center anytime during our regular business hours now through Saturday, October 3rd, 2026.

**A portion of the proceeds from this auction will help fund daily operations at the Hutchinson Art Center**

If you have any questions, please contact the Hutchinson Art Center via email at [email protected], call 620-663-1081, or visit in-person at the Front Desk. THANK YOU!
