As Washington County and the nation celebrates America 250, 14-year old Trenton Robbins from La Verkin composed the song “Our Hearts Are American”, earning him a sweepstakes ribbon at the county fair and the opportunity to sing this song at our ribbon cutting.

It's a county fair tradition to have Preslee Heppler sing the national anthem at the demolition derby. Having performed it for the past 7 years, it's the perfect way to cap off a week of county fair traditions!

Our second national anthem features Ashlyn Holt singing at our Friday night rodeo, and our Rodeo America Olivia Favero carrying the flag.

As we're heading into Memorial Day weekend, we'll be highlighting some of our national anthem singers! Enjoy this video from our ribbon-cutting ceremony with the national anthem performed by Haley-Shea Benoit.

Haley-Shea Benoit is a proud homeschool mom of three, a historical interpreter at Liberty Village, and a passionate performer. She is currently training to become a singing teacher, and some may remember her as Belle in Hurricane Theatricals’ Beauty and the Beast.

What better way to officially kick off the start of the fair than with a ribbon-cutting?
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Color Guard presented the flags before we recognized La Verkin City as our spotlight city, Howard Hugh performed La Verkin’s official song “This Town We Call La Verkin" and we highlighted our grand marshals Lamar and Doris Gubler. As Washington County and the nation celebrates America 250, 14-year old La Verkin resident Trenton Robbins sang an original composition “Our Hearts Are American” before honoring Ashely Averett as the recipient of the inaugural “Community Spirit Award", given to someone who has an incredible amount of community spirit and honors a Washington County senior citizen whose kindness, dedication, and service embody the true spirit of community.
