There has been a lot said regarding a show that we hosted this past weekend, both from people who were there and people who were not there. We were not sure if we should make a post since it was Easter weekend. However, due to so much getting blown out of proportion we believe that it is needed.
The event was cancelled and three of the bands that we booked were not able to play. There were mistakes made by both us, the promoters, and the venue. We did not specify the rules like we usually do which led to some people getting too carried away, both in the crowd and the bands. Even during the first band furniture was being thrown around.
During one of the bands that played, there was a mic thrown/knocked down. This is what led to the event being shut down. The venue manager knocked over a bass amp in response to the mic then demanded everyone out. In response to this, there was a very heated exchange between the venue manager and several band members of the bands that were booked. Due to the amount of people there and the venue manager being out numbered with so many people who disagreed with him, some level of aggression would probably be necessary to shut down the event. However, knocking over the base amp was not appropriate.
During the process of removing patrons and bands from the venue and into the parking lot, there was a MD alcohol bottle smashed against the outside wall. Again, we are usually a lot stricter for our shows and this should not have been allowed to happen. It is difficult managing an angry crowd as well though which is something we have not had to do before.
The venue manager did give us the door money so that we could at least pay the touring bands even though they did not get to play. By the time we left, everything was smoothed over between us and the venue. Most of what has been said on social media has either been heavily exaggerated or a lie, a lot of which by people who were not even there when this transpired. Pig Barn apologizes for the inconvenience this has caused a lot of people and will do what we can to not let it happen again going forward.
