I am excited to share my block for the Shades of Gray tour. Have you been following along and getting your new block each week? My block is designed with love for my cousin and her daughter who has Dravet Syndrome. Purple is the color for Epilepsy awareness, and while the butterfly is also representative of all Epilepsy, the Dravet Syndrome Foundation is heavily tied to it.

There are seven quilt blocks total, one very simple, six with different designs in the wings. The patterns are all free on my website as part of the Shades of Gray Tour. Link is in the first comment.πŸ’œπŸ¦‹

I was recording this morning, so I had my ironing station set up on my cutting mat. I *almost* grabbed the coffee cup instead of the iron when I went to press. That would have been a mess. Might be time for more coffee. πŸ€£πŸ˜‰β˜•οΈ

🌈 The first day of July means a new block for the Monthly Color Challenge. This block shines in black and white, with the hourglass units giving it a black tie feel.

Watch for the 2026 Monthly Color Challenge layout coming July 15. It's going to be a good month. πŸ’œ

There is still time to join in the challenge. Link in my Instagram bio, or comment color.

Sponsored by Benartex with their beautiful basics lines Whisper Weave and Whisper Weave Too.

I don't often press my seams open, but there are times when it just makes more sense. I hear a lot of opinions on this topic πŸ˜‰ and I think that's what makes quilting such a great hobby. There are so many different ways to do things that there is going to be a way that works perfectly for you.

But if a pattern calls for pressing seams open, and it makes you nervous, my number one tip is to shorten your stitch length. There is a much smaller chance of those stitches coming a part. If that still doesn't make you feel good about pressing the seams open, then press to the side. It's all about finding what works for you, and what makes quilting a happy and satisfying hobby.

🌈 This is it for the June block, in two days the July block drops. Did you get your block instructions yet? This block is very beginner friendly, and if you are really new and are nervous about joining, each set of instructions comes with it's own how to video. I walk you step by step through the entire process.

The Quilt and Learn with Patterns By Jen facebook group has quilters that love to answer questions, too. This is all about helping you finish a quilt you love. What are you waiting for? Grab it now, save it for later, or hop right in.

Me: Oo, oo, oo, I have a great Friday funny to share.
Also me: Wait. It's only Wednesday?

The saddest part of this post is that I won't remember (read: already forgot) what my Fri funny was.

I have been sharing progress pics in the Quilt and Learn with Patterns By Jen Facebook group of my patriotic version of Broken Panes. It's part of a group of four patterns I thought would make nice patriotic quilts for the 250th Anniversary of the US.

I did a mock up of Broken Panes for my newsletter and had to go see if I had enough fabrics for it, I loved it that much. I'll be quilting it soon, and need to decide on binding. Which do you prefer? Comment with the number of your favorite.

P.S. It's on sale, 25% off, through June 30.
