We are so thankful for the time our seniors have dedicated to the Choral program. It's hard to say goodbye to a student you've taught for 6 or 7 years in a row, but there is so much joy in seeing them blossom. We will miss you dearly, seniors. Spread your wings and fly.

Bel Suono performed yesterday at State Festival and sang their hearts out. State judging is quite difficult, and we ended up with a II, IIR, I on stage which is a composite "Excellent" rating. Our third piece was "our" song that we commissioned in 2021. It was a highly emotional performance and this choir director couldn't be more proud.

Thank you to Matt Ferguson and David Preston for driving the choir to state.

Thank you to "Nana" for accompanying the choir on piano.

Thank you to Mrs. Skaggs for playing the clarinet feature for us on "Remembrance".

Wonderful job by all!

Dr. Caldwell from the University of Arkansas came to work with the high school choirs this morning and we had such a wonderful time! We learned a lot and are ready for our upcoming competitions.

Parents, families, community and friends have been so supportive in this fundraiser and we are so grateful! We are continuing the fundraiser through the 25th of this month so if you haven't donated, there's still time!

The choirs will also be performing at a Naturals game in April. Students will be selling tickets for ten dollars, and you get to watch the students perform during pregame at the home plate. It is always a lot of fun!

You might be asking, "What does the choir need money for? Singing is free!" Well, the truth is, there is so much more to it than that.

At the start of the school year, we have to pay our yearly dues to the Arkansas Choral Director's Association so that we can attend ARKCDA-sponsored events. These dues are roughly $500 for the year. The ARKCDA events that we attend each year are all region tryouts and all region clinic for both junior and senior high, Choral Performance Assessment, State Festival, Region Solo and Ensemble, and State Solo and Ensemble. All of these events require separate registration fees, and that doesn't even include the cost of music and accompaniment tracks! Occasionally, hotel stays are required.

Additionally, the cost of cleaning and upkeep of uniforms is necessary and almost all of the uniforms we own have been previously owned from other schools. Safety pins, zippers, buttons, garment bags, name tags, dry cleaning... they add up.

We also need to be able to feed kids when we go on trips, and the fancy awards given out at the spring concert are also purchased with fundraiser money. Let's not forget having a stash of mints, water and cough drops on hand for competitions.

We desperately need a new piano at the high school, and also one to keep at the activity center for our concerts. Acoustic shells would be an absolute dream!

Regular classroom supplies that all teachers need (pencils, folders, page protectors, etc) run out very quickly when you have 199 students in the program. That is a GREAT problem to have, by the way!

We thank you immensely for any help you are able to provide and please know that you are making a difference in the lives of these young musicians.
