What a truly exceptional day it was for students of Monte Sano Elementary school. The MDMEF partnered with the Orion Amphitheater to host the first of it's kind "Concert in the Classroom" series with a field trip to The Orion. Students were treated to a tour of the facility and an educational concert by none other than Microwave Dave and the Nukes (Dave Gallaher, James Irvin and Rick Godfrey). Many thanks to Ms. Victoria Jones and Ms. Lania Weldon from the Orion for all of their hard work and to Monte Sano Elementary Principal Mr. Clifford Porter for providing the students with this golden opportunity. Kudos go to MDMEF President and Educational Coordinator Mr. Evan Billiter for bringing this project to fruition. But most importantly thanks to the teachers, staff, escorts and the students who were the real Rock Stars!!!!

Could there be anything more captivating then listening to a harp being payed while tales from Dr. Seuss are being read? I think not and that is actually what Students in K-3rd and 4th-6th grade were treated to at Dawson Elementary today. Harpist, Ms. Catie Wells and MDMEF President Evan Billiter dazzled the students during a Concerts in the Classroom program. “Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.” “Today I shall behave as if this is the day I will be remembered.”

We had a blast today learning about music, science, and creativity. Thank you Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation for sharing your love of music with the Boys and Girls in Ardmore.
Here's an educational opportunity we want you to know about! The Danny Hall Memorial Music Scholarship covers one year of lessons for 2 talented young musicians to advance their studies. This scholarship is sponsored by the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation in partnership with Valley Conservatory. Students must apply online by November 4th at microwavedavemef.org.

Here's Evan recording their PSA. Community interest PSAs are made possible by the contributions of our listeners. Keep our PSA program going strong by supporting our station today at wlrh.org/donate.
We had a fantastic Music Scene Reboot Day yesterday! This group of 20 alumni and guests heard from two different panels, visited three music spots around town, and got to hear a special performance by Victoria Jones. A huge thank you to Fantasy Playhouse Children's Theater and Academy for sponsoring this day!

We began the morning at Maitland Conservatory and heard about their story and mission. They are doing some amazing things with music and tech! Next, we headed to the Von Braun Center for a panel discussion with Mary Shirley-Howell with Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, Allison Dillon-Jauken with Arts Huntsville, Dr. Robert Garfrerick with University of North Alabama, Karen Mockensturm with Fantasy Playhouse Children's Theater and Academy, Mario Maitland with Maitland Conservatory, and Evan Billiter with Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation. Then we toured the new artist rooms in the arena!

Our final stop was the Apollo Dome at The Orion Amphitheater where we heard from Victoria Jones with tvg hospitality, Matt Mandrella with City of Huntsville, Alabama - Government, Cody Morgan with Octo Hospitality, and Bill Fowler, local native and musician. We ended this half-day with a special music performance by local musician and music advocate Victoria Jones.
Music education is a big part of our ecosystem, which is why we’re co-hosting a monthlong school instrument drive in partnership with Huntsville City Schools, Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation and Maitland Arts Initiative. 🎷🎺

If you have an instrument (think guitar, drums, your old high school tuba) sitting around gathering dust, donate it to a student in need by visiting the The Fret Shop, Inc. or Maitland Conservatory. For a complete list of addresses and instrument drop-off times, check out huntsvillemusic.com/musicmonth.
Your donations to WLRH help pay for your favorite programs and allow us to provide free, on-air announcements for local non-profits through our Public Service Announcement program.

That includes Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation, which will host an evening of "Tales and Melodies" at the Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday April 27th. The event features Rick Carter from Rollin' In The Hay and Microwave Dave and the Nukes. This singer songwriter showcase and book signing event begins at 6:00 PM. Information is online at PrincessTheatre.org.

Never have I ever seen or heard of Horton, Alabama but I had the most incredible time being surrounded by their bright and beautiful youth alongside the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation. I love their heart to hire in artists to bridge the gap between music and instructional education. I just love seeing faces light up when we perform and expound upon various educational subjects!

This week has felt like a mini southern tour for an audience of kiddos! It’s be so fun traveling to different schools and sharing the gift of original music & education. Til’ next time! ✨
It felt so amazing to back in the classroom with such bright and amazing kids ✨

I always love it when I get to partner up with The Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation.

What I love most about this organization is their devotion to integrating the art of music into the classroom while hiring in artists to engage/ facilitate a classroom learning experience through the gift of LIVE original music!

Today was one for the books! I can’t wait do it again!

Yesterday was amazing!!

Such a honor to be able to head back to Williams Boys & Girls Clubs of America where I use to be Teen Director and give back!

Thank you to the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation for the opportunity to reach back and show a diverse group of kids the different avenues of music through education.

We covered:
-Music Recording
-Mixing and Mastering
-Sound Board Engineering
-Reading and Writing
-Music Video Production

This group was very engaging and confident to be hands on with all lessons provided!

I always have a great time with the youth since my back ground has been heavy in the Huntsville City Schools and Private School System!

You don’t have to be a singer or rapper to be in the music industry. That’s what yesterday’s lesson was about, while having fun!

Thank you to the Williams Elementary Boys and Girls Club for having us there and sharing the space!

Happy Dr. Suess Day!!!

This time last year the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation allowed me to join them at LakewoodElementarySchool of Huntsville City Schools and read a classic book, ‘Green Eggs and Ham’ by Dr. Suess as well as perform for the kiddos!

The kids truly enjoyed everything from reading to Ingrid Marie Wever and myself performing for them with the help of the great DJ Aaron Hoffman (ATwist). We had a ball with Crickett Hoffman in the mix as well!!

Definitely looking forward to doing this again soon! I had so much fun!!

Let’s show the kids something different!
