Update added to the bottom of this post. We would like to make the community aware of an incident that occurred tonight, Friday, June 12th.
The man whose picture you can find below brought flyers to Shenanigans and placed them on customers’ cars. The flyers were designed to look like they were associated with local community organizations, including Shenanigans, UWOC, and 50501. The QR code on the flyers directs users to hateful anti-gay and anti-trans content.
As soon as the situation was brought to our attention, all flyers were removed and the parking lot was monitored. We also filed an incident report with the Huntsville Police Department and made certain that all patrons made it safely to their cars.
When we are faced with situations like this, we are reminded to remain vigilant and aware. However, we do not allow incidents like this to make us afraid. They do not silence us or stop us from creating, connecting, and working within our community. Instead, they strengthen our resolve to keep moving forward, speaking up, and doing good.

Update- Thanks to our wonderful community, we believe we know who he is. We are leaving all videos and posts up to spread awareness. He has apparently done this at another event locally. We want to make sure that everybody sees his face so we can all recognize him at events and keep our spaces safe. We want to help the community stay vigilant while also making sure he has no power and no shock value, just like some other frequently seen faces🙄. Regarding a request for his name- so we have been sent a couple names and we don't want to do anything to mislead the community. We have been told by everyone that reached out that he is known as the The Public Pen on Social Media.
