So last night's face-to-face D&D game at the Grove. After rescuing survivors and defeating a Mind Flayer, our party continued exploring a crashed Spelljammer ship, hoping to retrieve some usable components to build their own Spelljammer.
They were interrupted when another 'Jammer arrived with the ship owners (multiple Thi-Kreen hunters) seeking to recover as much of their losses from the downed vessel as possible.
In the ensuing fight the party accidentally triggered another avalanche (their second time, when are they going to learn)? Barely escaping with their lives, they boarded the second 'Jammer and slayed the crew.
After some negotiations with the captain and engineer from the downed vessel they managed to gain the components they needed, the engineer joined the party (Parting ways with his former captain), and the captain took possession of the Thri_kreen vessel.
It was a tense, exciting, and suspenseful night, with the countdown timer for the avalanche impact causing everyone to come together as quickly as possible to survive.
Post game made my heart swell - I heard two of the players (who are also fellow DM's) say what a great game it was and how good a job I did. To receive praise from peers that I also consider mentors was an amazing thing!
