🎭 Fall Break Theatre Camp: Radio Theatre & Acting
October 5–7 | 9:00 AM–1:00 PM
Ages 7–12
Lights, camera… microphones! 🎙️
This fall break, step into the exciting world of theatre where your imagination becomes the stage! In this three-day theatre camp, students will spend their mornings playing theatre games, developing characters, exploring acting techniques, rehearsing scenes, and discovering the unique art of radio theatre.
Designed for young actors, storytellers, and creative kids ages 7–12, this camp combines the fun and energy of a traditional theatre camp with the creativity of an audio production studio. Students will learn how actors can tell an entire story using voice, expression, character choices, narration, sound effects, and imagination—without ever needing a costume or set!
Throughout the three days, campers will:
🎭 Play Acting & Theatre Games
Build confidence, spontaneity, focus, and teamwork through fun theatre games and improvisation activities.
🎬 Explore Acting & Characterization
Learn how actors create believable characters using voice, movement, facial expression, emotions, physical choices, and imagination. Students will experiment with different characters and discover how changing their voice and performance choices can completely transform a role.
📖 Read & Rehearse Scripts
Work together on scenes and radio theatre scripts while developing script-reading skills, projection, pacing, listening, and ensemble performance. Campers will practice making character choices and working together as an ensemble.
🎙️ Discover Radio Theatre
Learn how actors can create an entire theatrical world using only their voices and sounds. Students will explore narration, dialogue, character voices, vocal expression, timing, and storytelling specifically for an audio audience.
🔊 Bring Stories to Life with Sound
Discover how sound effects and music can help audiences imagine locations, actions, emotions, and dramatic moments. Campers will experiment with creating sounds and learn how audio elements work together to tell a story.
🎧 Record a Radio Theatre Production
The camp will culminate in a radio theatre recording session, where students will put their skills into practice and record their scenes as a collaborative audio production. Campers will experience what it is like to step up to a microphone, perform for an audio audience, work as an ensemble, and bring a script to life through sound.
Most importantly, students will have FUN while building confidence, creativity, communication skills, teamwork, and performance experience in a supportive theatre environment.
