So many small towns and unincorporated areas need assistance. They’ve been destroyed.

These are our past coal communities, areas with no mayor to declare a state of emergency, no public works crew to help clean up, no funding reserves- just locals. Neighbors helping each other.

Bring cleaning supplies to the store this Friday 2-6 or Saturday 12-4. I’ll be taking them to Cabin Creek on Sunday!

Any monetary donations will be used to buy supplies as well and can be sent to hippies daughter™ on Venmo, please put flood or 🌊 in the description.

Supplies will be going to the Dry Branch Independent Missionary Baptist Church who have already been out there feeding the community.

Come hell or high water, West Virginia style.

If your home or property was impacted by the severe weather on August 16, please take a few minutes to help us understand the damage across our communities.

Before you begin cleanup, take photos and videos of any damage whenever it is safe to do so. Then, follow this link - https://survey123.arcgis.com/ and complete the WV Damage Assessment Survey (Survey123).

The information you provide helps local, state and federal partners better understand the impact of the storm and identify needs as recovery efforts move forward. The survey is for damage assessment and is separate from any assistance that may become available.

Need help completing it? Call 2-1-1. WV 211 is here to help walk you through the survey.

Please share so we can reach as many impacted neighbors as possible.

‼️ Storm damage at KCHA 💔

We have:
- a fallen tree on our clinic & sick cat building UPDATE: it's also blocking how most people drive to exit. We'll be rocking a one way road until it gets cleared 😭

- inches of water in our storage building, likely wiping out all our food bank supplies (the only things not on pallets) UPDATE: a lot was already bagged so about half was salvageable!!

- inches of water in our parvo ward, luckily those kennels are raised so the parvo puppies are okay! Just supplies and building damage ❤️‍🩹

- a tree lodged in our bridge (large trucks and big suvs CAN NOT safely pass at this time)

- our lower dumpster floated into the woods 🥲

- naturally, no power either so no cell reception

All we can do now is move forward and be so, so thankful our animals weren't harmed 🥺 but our supply stores are taking a big hit - I'll update as we begin assessing more detailed damages 💔

We're typically closed on Monday's anyway, but we're likely going to fully shut down today. We can't do surgeries, we can't call or message anyone while on property bc lack of cell service here.

We're going to do what we do best - push our emotions and stress aside & focus on the shelter pets ❤️

If you need us, send a bat signal in the sky because our phones are useless bricks in our pockets for now 🫠

Sending out big virtual hugs to all others affected by the flooding, too 💔

Pictured is the far side of our building - you can't drive past it 😭 and the black and white cat is Stitch, our outside kitty who is supervising
