We're excited to welcome speaker Kathy Maguire of the Center for Spiritual Living as we learn about the practice of invocation and “World Invocation Day” on May 31, 2026.

Come hear about the incredible work the GHBIC is doing in our community. We'll also be recapping our Community Service Day, and discussing exciting upcoming events like our 30th Anniversary celebration and the 4th of July Parade!

This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with neighbors from diverse faith backgrounds and work together for a better community. We hope to see you there, in person or on Zoom!

Today, we at the Greater Huntington Beach Interfaith Council stand in grief and solidarity with our Muslim neighbors and friends in the wake of the horrific and hateful attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. We are devastated by this senseless act of violence that took the lives of worshippers and shattered a sacred space of peace. Our hearts are broken for the victims, their families, and the entire community affected by this tragedy. As an interfaith community, we unequivocally reject the hatred and violence that fueled this attack. We come together to support our Muslim brothers and sisters with love, courage, and unwavering compassion. In times of such profound loss, our shared commitment to protecting one another and upholding the sanctity of every faith is more important than ever.

JOINT PRAYER BREAKFAST RECAP:

The Greater Huntington Beach Interfaith Council and Newport Mesa Interfaith Council held a joint prayer breakfast on May 7, 2026 with the theme “Rooted in Faith, United in Purpose.”

Religious Leaders from all faiths participate - Christian (all denominations), Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Bahai, Centers for Spiritual Living, Spiritual and many more. 260 people of all faiths shared the space as they listened to Keynote speaker Steve Young, (Hall of Fame Quarterback of SF 49ers, Superbowl MVP, author of “The Law of Love”)

We were honored to share this meaningful morning together in prayer!

There will be a Blood Drive this Saturday, Aprill 11th serving the communities of Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach. It will be done between the hours of 9AM to 3PM. It is hosted at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 17500 Bushard Street, Fountain Valley. What a wonderful GHBIC meeting this month! It was so enriching to learn from community members about the many beautiful holidays our different faith traditions are celebrating this spring. Sharing in each other's sacred stories is what our interfaith council is all about.

We're also excited to put our faith into action with our upcoming Community Service Day on April 25th and the Blessing of the Waves on September 13th.

Twice each year, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gather from all over the world to hear messages of hope, faith, and guidance during General Conference.

This special event is important because it gives us a chance to pause, reflect, and be spiritually renewed as we listen to inspired counsel from church leaders. No matter where we are in life, the messages help strengthen our faith, bring peace, and encourage us to follow Jesus Christ more closely.

It’s a beautiful reminder that God is mindful of us and continues to guide His children today. 💛

The April 2026 conference is uniquely significant as it coincides with Easter Sunday, the most sacred day on the Christian calendar. The gathering’s defining moment will be the solemn assembly.

Different traditions. Different calendars. Shared humanity.
Some are fasting. Some are feasting. Some are reflecting. Some are celebrating the new year. All are seeking meaning, connection, and hope.

May this week deepen our curiosity about one another, expand our compassion, and remind us that even in our differences, we stand together as one community. 💛
