🎉🇺🇸 What an incredible day at the Huntington Beach July 4th Parade! The GHBIC float was a vibrant celebration of 250 years of religious freedom, and it was heartwarming to see such a huge crowd joining us in this momentous occasion. Join us for the Greater Huntington Beach Interfaith Council meeting next week (6/30 at 8:30am)! We're excited to welcome our guest speaker, Jynene Johnson (Larry-Jynene Zeek Johnson), from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jynene will share insights on the significance of temples in their faith, highlighting the recent opening of the Yorba Linda temple and the upcoming public opening of the San Diego temple after renovations.

In addition to Jynene’s presentation, we’ll discuss updates on:

Blessing of the Waves on September 13 🌊
Our 30th Anniversary Celebration on November 15, 2026

We're excited to welcome speaker Kathy Maguire of the Center for Spiritual Living as we learn about the practice of invocation and “World Invocation Day” on May 31, 2026.

Come hear about the incredible work the GHBIC is doing in our community. We'll also be recapping our Community Service Day, and discussing exciting upcoming events like our 30th Anniversary celebration and the 4th of July Parade!

Today, we at the Greater Huntington Beach Interfaith Council stand in grief and solidarity with our Muslim neighbors and friends in the wake of the horrific and hateful attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. We are devastated by this senseless act of violence that took the lives of worshippers and shattered a sacred space of peace. Our hearts are broken for the victims, their families, and the entire community affected by this tragedy. As an interfaith community, we unequivocally reject the hatred and violence that fueled this attack. We come together to support our Muslim brothers and sisters with love, courage, and unwavering compassion. In times of such profound loss, our shared commitment to protecting one another and upholding the sanctity of every faith is more important than ever.

JOINT PRAYER BREAKFAST RECAP:

The Greater Huntington Beach Interfaith Council and Newport Mesa Interfaith Council held a joint prayer breakfast on May 7, 2026 with the theme “Rooted in Faith, United in Purpose.”

Religious Leaders from all faiths participate - Christian (all denominations), Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, Bahai, Centers for Spiritual Living, Spiritual and many more. 260 people of all faiths shared the space as they listened to Keynote speaker Steve Young, (Hall of Fame Quarterback of SF 49ers, Superbowl MVP, author of “The Law of Love”)

We were honored to share this meaningful morning together in prayer!

It is hosted at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 17500 Bushard Street, Fountain Valley. What a wonderful GHBIC meeting this month! It was so enriching to learn from community members about the many beautiful holidays our different faith traditions are celebrating this spring. Sharing in each other's sacred stories is what our interfaith council is all about.

Take a look at the picture for a handy reference to some of the many special celebrations and holidays in our community this spring!

We're also excited to put our faith into action with our upcoming Community Service Day on April 25th and the Blessing of the Waves on September 13th.
