Come bowling this weekend and we will donate 10% to this cause! Open bowling hours 1-10 Friday and Saturday. We will also have a bucket set up for extra donations.
Look closely at this photo.
Those are puppies huddled together in the only corner they knew. Surrounded by f***s. No clean bed to curl up in. No safe, comfortable space to rest. They didn’t get to choose the conditions they were living in, and they couldn’t ask anyone to change them.
But someone did. And today, their lives look different.
We can’t speak to all of the circumstances that led these animals here, and we won’t speculate. What matters now is that 20 dogs, most of them puppies, are safe and in the care of DCHS.
Tonight they have clean bedding. They have fresh food and water. They have people caring for them, cleaning up after them, giving them enrichment and showing them the kindness every animal deserves.
And someday, our hope is that instead of huddling together in a corner like this, they’ll be curled up on someone’s couch in a home of their own.
But getting them from this photo to that future takes an incredible amount of resources.
These 20 dogs joined 33 other dogs already depending on DCHS, bringing us to 53 dogs in our care and pushing us well beyond our normal capacity.
Here’s a peek behind the curtain: it costs approximately $58 per dog, per day to provide basic care. At 53 dogs, that’s roughly $3,000 every single day for food, water, shelter, cleaning, enrichment and the staff needed to care for them.
This is where we need our community.
A donation today helps us care for the dogs in front of us. And if you’re able to commit to a recurring donation — even $20 a month — that support gives us stability long after this emergency is over.
We stepped in because this is exactly what DCHS is here to do. But we cannot do it without you.
