Sweet violets have always been admired for their beauty and sweet aroma. They can even be concentrated into a syrup or steeped fresh or dried as a tea. They have a pleasant taste and are considered child-friendly for medicinal purposes.
Violets are technically expectorants. They can be used for relieving chest issues such as harsh coughs, asthma, whooping cough and bronchitis.
The plant also contains mucilage, contributing to a demulcent effect of soothing an irritated respiratory tract, stomach or intestines.
Violet is also used by herbalist for its anti-tumor action, especially for breast, lung and gastrointestinal cancer.
