More info on Gino -Born and raised along the bayous of South Louisiana in the small town of Delcambre, Gino V. is a drummer, vocalist, and songwriter whose musical roots run deep. Getting his start at the young age of 12, it didnโt take long for Gino to realize that he would soon be actively pursuing a career in music. By the age of 14, he was playing blues and big band standards in school band, while slamming rock music at local venues with various bands on week nights and weekends. Cutting his teeth as a young adult in Lafayette, LA. he quickly became one of the hub cityโs most sought after drummers and singers, backing up many of Acadianaโs most established talent. His musical resumรฉ includes sharing the stage with the likes of Ray Boudreaux, Roddie Romero, Marc Broussard, Sarah Russo, Steve Adams, Greg Martinez, Lance Dubroc, Dustin Dale Gaspard, Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. , Keith Blair, and Michael Juan Nunez; just to name a few. He is currently the full time touring drummer for Grammy award winner, Cajun music royalty, and Zydecajun front man, Wayne Toups.
At the turn of 2022, V. embarked on a new journey to establish his own brand of front man. Making the studio his priority, he crafted a new set of original music and began hitting the road with a freshly formed band. He spent the majority of late โ22 up and down I-10 playing shows with his group and gunning for other artists to make the ends meet. In September of 2022, he released his debut single โShineโ which would begin his string of studio releases that followed. Over the course of โ23 and โ24 he could be seen blazing shows and festivals all across the south under the Gino V. moniker, including a primetime slot at Lafayetteโs coveted Festival International De Louisiane.
From the beginning, V was always conscious of carving his own path in a region where Zydeco and Cajun are king. His voice is a product of his immense love for soul music greats like Bill Withers, Sam Cooke, and Otis Redding. His unique feel behind the drums can be credited to his obsession with his drum idols like Steve Jordan, Buddy Miles, and Questlove, but fused with the ferocity of rock greats like John Bonham and Dave Grohl.
His musical style is a gumbo of modern rhythm & blues, soul, hip hop, funk, and rock n roll. Possessing a live show thatโs sure to get your blood pumping, youโre consumed by deep pockets, smooth and sultry vocals, and eclectic instrumentation; all while V is commanding the band behind the drum kit and he makes it look easy. With a musical ability that is only surpassed by his work ethic and determination, V is set to make the world believers: one moment, one show, and one song at a time.
