Recently at Bates Brothers, Jake Adler was in recording strings and woodwinds. Jake was adding to a project he had already started with us. The rhythm section, strings, and woodwinds have all been recorded to our MCI JH24 tape machine, with Dolby SR. Everyone did an amazing job! So great to have you back Jake! Always good when you are at BBR!

Eric Essix back at Bates Brothers! Eric came by to visit a few days ago, and it was so good to see him again. He started his recording journey with us back in 1988, with his first album, "First Impressions", and then went on to record several more projects with us over the years. Incredibly talented, and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet! So great to catch up Eric, and we are looking forward to working together again!

Had a great visit with Mark Harrelson at BBR a few days ago. Mark has been a mainstay in the Birmingham recording community at Boutwell Studios for decades and is one of the best to ever do it! He has work with so many incredible artist over the years and we consider him a good friend. 
Mark brought out a piece of gear for us to consider purchasing and we are proud to say that it is now part of our collection of outboard gear.  Thanks so much for coming out Mark, and you’re welcome anytime!

Absolutely fantastic time in the studio this past Thursday with Steven Potaczek and students from Samford University’s music program and recording technology class. Steven heads up this program for Samford University and does a fantastic job. The students were so nice and fun to work with. And as a bonus, Chris Fryar, drummer for Zac Brown Band, was there on the drums. It was a packed house for sure. Thank you so much Steven for coming out to Bates Brothers for this project!!

Another great session with Joe Fox and Earnest Echols yesterday! Working on a new song for Joe. Mixing on the SSL, and to tape, before bouncing back into ProTools. Great mixing session with two incredibly talented musicians.

We've had so much going on, but not posting anything. What is up with that! We've got a lot of catching up to do!
