What a night! A heartfelt thank you to our generous community for making the 2026 Hudson Hall Gala such a success. Together, you helped raise more than $200,000 to sustain ambitious artistic work, free and affordable arts education, and Hudson Hall’s role as a welcoming gathering place at the heart of our community.

It was a joy to celebrate the profound impact of our honorees: Elena Mosley, co-founder of , and Steven Johnson & Walter Sudol of . Their generosity, collaborative spirit, and dedication to the arts inspire us all.

We were delighted to share a preview of what’s ahead at Hudson Hall through spectacular performances by:

Choreographer-in-residence Bobbi Jene Smith

Hudson Jazz Festival duo Vuyo Sotashe and Chris Pattishall

Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen with Ruckus, who offered an exciting preview of "Deidamia", the next production in our Handel on the Hudson series

With thanks to Hudson Jazz Festival curator .henry and Handel on the Hudson director@r_b_schlather.

It was terrific fun to welcome guests with Cindy Sherman’s wild sculptural set for dance "Island of Misfit Toys" (2003).

🌱 Call for Seeds! 🌱

Sideways Art is back with a hands-on seed papermaking workshop on Saturday, May 30. Kids will transform recycled materials into beautiful, plantable paper, learning to blend pulp, pull sheets, and shape each piece by hand from start to finish.

And you can help their creativity bloom! We’re collecting native flower seeds for them to create with. If you have seeds to spare, we’d love your donation, just send us a message to get involved.

Did you know the floors and staircase are original to the building? Constructed in 1855, it has witnessed well over a century of history. After falling into disrepair, the people of Hudson rallied to save it, leading to major renovations in 2017. Today, the building retains the same captivating charm that has drawn audiences for generations. It's a vital place to celebrate the community and the arts.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Reginald Madison, a treasured member of the Hudson artistic community and our dear friend. Deeply inspired by jazz, Reggie showed his work and curated several exhibitions at Hudson Hall over the years, championing the work of fellow artists, neighbors, and friends.

His warmth, generosity of spirit, impeccable style, mischievous smile, and astounding talent will be long remembered. Our hearts go out to his beloved partner, Marlene (pictured), and to his family.

We will be honored to celebrate Reggie’s life and work with his upcoming exhibition curated by September Gallery, "Caravan", on view in our galleries July 18 through October 11.
