Left In Focus

Left In Focus Steadfast Images For Steadfast Resistance Left In Focus (LIF) was founded in 2012 by photographer and organizer Bryan MacCormack.

LIF’s first project worked with the Jenin Freedom Theatre to document their Freedom Bus Ride through the Occupied West Bank, Palestine. In the years following, LIF primarily concentrated on labor movement communications and photojournalism with Black Lives Matter, Palestinian Liberation, US-Mexico Border Solidarity, and Fight for $15. In 2015, LIF began shifting toward a model that combines photog

raphy, multi-media and organizing to increase the capacity of movements, communities, and organizations to tell their own stories in creative ways. Since then, LIF has begun developing a collective of photographers and media makers to further its’ work. LIF photos have appeared in Alternet.org, ElectronicIntifada.net, Colorlines.com, WagingNonviolence.org, Mondoweiss.net, and PopularResistance.org, among other outlets. LIF has collaborated with: The Jenin Freedom Theatre, No More Deaths, Fight For $15, Students for Justice in Palestine, Community Change, Akicita Teca, Oglala Youth And Tribal Entertainment Media Network (OYATE), We The People of Detroit, The People’s Water Board, City Life Vida Urbana, Jewish Voice For Peace, Unite Here! Services Employees International Union, Adjunct Action, Faculty Forward, The illuminator, Allied Media Conference, International Workers of the World, United Students Against Sweatshops, and others.

Left In Focus photographer Corinna Lander documents the power of low-wage workers uniting in Denver, Colorado yesterday, during the Fight for $15 Movement's National Day of Disruption:

In November, Colorado voters approved Amendment 70, which will gradually increase the state minimum wage to $12 per hour (from its current $8.31) by 2020. But the proposal's success hasn't slowed the Fight for $15 movement, which has been holding events in the Denver area for years, although none qu...

An article by Sarah Irving and Electronic Intifada about the Palestine Youth Orchestra's 2016 UK Tour featuring one of my photos of their performance in Glasgow. It highlights the challenges the PYO must overcome each tour due to the Israeli Occupation of Palestine and Siege of Gaza. Only a dedicated, resilient, talented and amazingly humanistic group of people could reach the level of success they have achieved. It seems that for the PYO, as for all Palestinians, Existence Is Resistance!

A diverse program pleases solidarity audience and classical music fans alike.

Incredibly inspired by the courageous janitors in Denver, CO. They signed a contract that phases in a $15 minimum wage over the next 4 years for all janitors in the Denver metro area. Proud to say Bryan MacCormack and Corinna Lander from Left In Focus contributed to their communications campaign.
