Contemporary impressionist watercolor artist, I’m obsessed with capturing light. As a contemporary impressionist painter, I’m obsessed with capturing light.

The consistent theme of light and shadow is what attracts me to this medium. My representations of nature and life attempt to embrace both realism and impressionism. Through loose, at times impressionistic application, I aim for impressionism with a painterly realistic twist, but sometimes allow the rich hues and textures of a scene to dominate.

I am pleased to announce that I have been chosen as a featured artist for the Red Wing Arts Plein Air event in June. This event was juried (judge's review and selection) with a great number of entries winnowed down to just 30 artists.

Thank you RWA and jury judge Andy Evansen. I am honored.

Each artists will submit three final paintings for judging and awards for the 10 day outdoors event. All paintings will be available for sale, and many community events have been established around this event.

Here are a few of my past plein air paintings for this event over the years. Hopefully this year's will be much better!

I am flattered to announce that my watercolor painting “Red Tugs of Bayfield” has been selected to exhibit in the juried Minnesota Watercolor Society’s spring show “Pushing Pigments.” Thank you MNWS and judge Dan Marshall for the honor.
