Meet the visionary shaping the future of the Armory on the Assabet: architect Ed Nunes!

Ed’s love for architecture started young — a childhood glimpse of Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Falling Water” in an old Life Magazine sparked a lifelong passion. Decades later, that passion is helping transform our downtown.

As a Hudson resident, Ed has watched our community grow and sees the Armory as the perfect next chapter — a true home for the arts.
Right now, he’s working with the HCA committee on Phase 1: repairing historic masonry and installing new energy-efficient windows to keep this beautiful building weather-tight and strong.

His vision for the space? A community arts center where neighbors can take pottery, dance, and photography classes, view exhibits, and enjoy live performances — bringing people together and supporting local artists and businesses.

And one design detail we can’t wait for: instead of a plain entrance ramp, Ed created a sweeping curved terrace and formal garden along Washington Street — accessible for everyone and ready to host exhibits and performances outdoors. 💙

This is just a peek. Keep an eye on your inbox for our full interview with Ed, coming soon!
