Please join me on May 31 in Beacon for a behind-the-scenes look at my current dance project “The Flock”!

I’ll be joined in conversation and creation by lead dancer Hannah Straney ( ) as we pull back the curtain on her character “Jo” and work through different creative and movement ideas in real-time.

We will take a deep dive into the story at the root of the project’s inspiration - including preparing for our site-specific short film which will take place on Bannerman Castle Island this Fall.

Part conversation, part working rehearsal, this will be an immersive opportunity to learn about the project and get a first hand look at how a professional dance work is developed!

Usually I only post/share subjects related to my dance and my art. As I learn more and go through more life things, I realize more and more that everything is related to my dance and my art. All parts of me.

Here’s a photo of me and my dad, who passed away just about 6 months ago. I loved him so much and I will never cease to keep doing my own thing my own way, because that’s what he always encouraged me to do, however uncharted the path I’m taking may be.

I miss him so much, and that grief and acceptance is part of my creative process each day in so many ways that I’m still learning and discovering. Sometimes challenging- sometimes sad- sometimes healing and inspiring and affirming too.

I also think that as humans we experience grief in so many different ways, more than we ever realize, and that we tend to put it aside/away as if it’s not a worthy occupant of our time, attention and energy, but there is actually so much we can learn from it, and beauty that can come from it.

RIP daddy, your spirit remains alive in my creativity, finding its way into every part of who I am.

Dance community!

I’m looking for a few new dancers to join my cast for my upcoming project, “THE FLOCK” this Fall.

Main project dates will take place within Oct 13-24, including rehearsals in NYC and a residency in the Hudson Valley (NY.)

I am interested in working with dancers with mature artistic voices, who bring life experience into the studio, are confident in using ballet technique in combination with contemporary dance practices & methods, and who can work collaboratively both in solo work and within ensemble work.

“THE FLOCK” is a narrative work, comprising of a series of 6 chapters. Some chapters have already been made, some are mid-development, and others are planned. Since the base movement vocabulary for this project has already been developed in part, I will hold workshop-auditions in late Spring to introduce material to@prospective dancers using the core movement language of the piece.

So excited to share this! Back in 2022, I started Love is an Action—a collaborative performance series built on real-time improvisation between artists across disciplines. It’s about creative alchemy in the moment, and it’s grown into something really special.

Last year, I was honored to bring the second iteration of it to Beacon Open Studios, a weekend that reminds me why I love living in this vibrant, creative place. Sharing my work here the past few years, with and for this community, has been pure magic ✨

As part of this year’s I’m bringing in the incredible and for a live music x dance collaboration with my company, Skyla Schreter Dance. It’s an open-air, unscripted evening of movement, sound, and presence.

This project is *entirely community-funded,* and there are a few ways to support:

Just about one week till we are in-residence at ! I can’t wait to start the in-studio creation process of developing our new piece “Our Wounds, Our Power” with an incredible cast of dancers: , , , .longstocking & .merker

Drawing upon creative conceptualization inspired by visual art, costume design, literature and music, we’ll be in-process examining societal constructs of “womanhood” by exploring healing as a continuum.

Join us on June 30th at 3:30pm for a free community showing, where we will present freshly developed and in-progress choreography excerpts, as well as share glimpses into the multi-disciplinary background and inspiration of the project.
