Howell Opera House

Howell Opera House The Livingston Arts Council brings arts, culture, and community to life from our home inside the historic Howell Opera House.

We host concerts, exhibits, markets, weddings, and programs that connect people and preserve this beloved landmark. The Howell Opera House is an historic building in downtown Howell owned and managed by the Livingston Arts Council. The first floor is a venue for public and private events and a variety of arts and cultural activities. The second floor is the location of the original 1881 theater, s

tage, and balconies. Tours are available for the second floor, but the theater is not restored and is unavailable for events. The Livingston Arts Council has planned the theater restoration in phases over the next several years. Campaigns will be undertaken to raise the necessary funding from grants, foundations, and donations from the community required to complete this project .

HOWELL, LET’S MAKE HISTORY—AND CAPTURE IT ON FILM! 🎥

For 26 years, Friday-night concerts at the Old Courthouse have brought our community together. On Friday, September 18, we’re going for the largest turnout in the history of the series—and we need all of Howell (and Livingston County) to make it happen!

A professional film crew will be onsite capturing the night. You won’t simply be watching the show—you’ll be part of the production. Fill the lawn, bring the energy, sing, dance, cheer, have an unforgettable night, and help Howell shine on camera!

Bring your family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Let’s show everyone what happens when Howell shows up!

Now that The Pirates of Penzance has taken its final bow, I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who brought this remarkable production to life at the Howell Opera House.

Presenting the first official opera on our historic second-floor stage in more than a century was an extraordinary milestone—not only for the Howell Opera House & Livingston Arts Council, but for our entire community. For four wonderful performances, this stage was once again filled with music, laughter, creativity, and joy.

To the gifted cast, musicians, production crew, and everyone who worked behind the scenes: thank you. Your talent, dedication, and countless hours of preparation created an experience our audiences will remember for years to come.

Special thanks to Sam Logan Khaleghi, Sarah Moore and SLK Media Group, as well as Erv Suida and the How Well We Live Foundation, for the vision, partnership, and tremendous work required to make this historic production possible.

The coverage from CBS Detroit and BroadwayWorld helped share this story well beyond our community, but the greatest measure of its success was the joy felt inside the Opera House. After more than 100 years, seeing this stage come alive again offered a powerful glimpse of what is possible for its future.

On behalf of the Livingston Arts Council, thank you to every person who contributed, attended, supported, and believed in this production. Together, you helped write an important new chapter in the story of the Howell Opera House—and we are only getting started.
