It has been my dream to own and direct my own dance studio ever since I was a little boy choreographing routines in my bedroom. I can still see myself in my parents' house cutting music, thinking about props, and putting on "shows" my family was forced to "enjoy." Being incredibly shy when I was younger, the dance studio was a place I could always feel safe and learn about the art I

loved so much. Now that I've completely busted out of my shy shell...I want to run a studio that can offer exactly what dance has meant to me personally...a safe, nurturing place where students can learn and master the art of dance through hard work, dedication, and lessons taught by an incredibly talented staff. Throw in some Disney Magic and you have "Animated Movement." It's through my parents' support...my mother's never-ending desire to see me achieve this dream, my wife's encouragement, and my own children's love that this studio exists!"

Wow Jersey Stars, what a season! It’s hard to believe it all started 8 months ago at team auditions! Who would have predicted the crazy and rewarding season we would end up having? Being the true STARS that you are, you went out with a bang! You made us all incredibly proud at your final regional of the season this past weekend!

You brought home adjudication scores, category placements, overall placements, judge’s awards, Elite overall judges award (Congratulations Miss Alyssa), and so much more! And while hearing our dancers yell our studio’s name into the mic will never get old, it’s the backstory that really makes the weekend full of “Dance memory moments”!

It’s the trio turned duet who had to rally and compete without their injured teammate, it’s the dancer who courageously took the stage after major ACL and meniscus surgery, and the soloist who tied up her pointe shoes and bravely went back out there after a scary fall at the last competition. It was the first-year performance team members nervously taking the competition stage, the impromptu photo shoots, the crazy hotels stories, and the tears in everyone’s eyes backstage and in the theater watching all the seniors take their final solo bows. It was all of this, and as so much more!

All Out was the best way to end our season, as they share our vision on dance competitions. They also believe that comp weekends should be about growth, dance, and competitiveness, but that should be equally combined with laughs, memories, bonding, and joy! And that is exactly what was shared all weekend!

From countless injuries to ice storms, to blizzards, to stomach bugs and multiple Flu A & B epidemics, through team members battling back from extreme surgeries, understudies, alumni, and crazy props, it was a non-stop roller-coaster ride of a season. With countless overall 1st place wins, judge’s awards, Elite overall awards, 13+ and overall highes scores, overall best choreography for both 12 and under and 13+, “Kindness in the Wings” Awards and tons more – it was an incredible season! We wouldn’t change a thing! An extreme thank you to our caring staff for pushing our dancers to be great athletes on the stage AND for molding them to be awesome people off the stage! Thank you to our dance parents for trusting us with their children and thank you to our dancers for their growth and commitment. Together everyone united to make this a season that was truly full of the BEST “Dance Memory Moments”. Now we turn our attention to our annual recital, and possibly to some summer surprises. The season isn’t over yet!

As we reflect on the past three days of competition, our hearts are FULL! Full of PRIDE in our dancers for taking the stage all weekend, shining, and thriving! Full of EXCITEMENT from a weekend packed with fantastic and unforgettable victories! Full of LOVE, watching the sportsmanship and bonding from our alumni, parents, teachers, and dancers as stories, jokes, and precious time together was shared! Full of CONCERN for our injured teammates, who pushed through the pain to keep going, for the teammate whose injury was so severe that it landed her in the ER and on crutches, and for extended dance family members who had medical scares over the weekend. Most of all, full of JOY for having watched our full team of dancers beam all weekend doing what they love most… DANCING!

While all the adjudications, first in categories, overall placements, and studio awards are extremely nice, competition weekends are so much MORE! We have always instilled in our dancers that competitions are about KINDNESS... Kindness to each other, kindness to the other studios and dancers who work just as hard as we do, kindness to all parents, and kindness to the competition, staff and crew. It’s about sportsmanship, professionalism, character, positive behavior, fun, and growth. My staff understands that we aren’t just training dancers to be athletes, we are teaching our students to be good people, and THAT is the most important lesson! This is why, after three long days of competition, when we received the “Kindness in the Wings” overall award, our hearts swelled! Being recognized for the ideals that our studio holds so dear reinsure that we are on the right path!

A big congratulations to all the other studios who competed this weekend. We were honored to take the stage with you and we loved watching your pieces! Thank you to Ticket to Broadway for three days of competitive fun. A special shout out to Miss Dani and her dancers for their multiple 1st place overall awards, as well as her amazing Best Overall Choreography for 12 and under!

Great job to both the Jersey Stars dancers and staff. Our hearts are beyond full with the love and pride we have for all of you!

Our Jersey Stars kicked off their competition season this weekend at the Beyond the Stars competition, and to say they BLEW US AWAY, is an understatement.

The month leading up to our inaugural competition was met with illness, injuries, and snow closures. Even with a fallen teammate injured with only 4 rehearsal days left, our team TRIUMPHANTLY returned to the competition stage and made us PROUD!

Our competitive group routines strutted on stage with confidence, grace, and style. Understudies who learned pieces in one day, danced with full commitment, with the whole team rallying in the stage spotlights. When the awards ceremony started, the victories came pouring in. We amassed 10 overall award placements, multiple 1st place overall placements, first in category recognition, special judges awards with our entire ensemble demonstrating our goal… to arrive and compete as a TEAM, showcasing all they have learned and perfected!

It was a perfect day capped off with Miss Mikayla’s senior contemporary piece “Friend of Mine” bringing home a Diamond placement and the honor of the OVERALL 13+ HIGHEST SCORING ROUTINE!

Congratulations to ALL the dancers and JSDE choreographers! We cannot wait to see what the rest of the season will bring as we add in our solos, duets, trios, and performance team!

We know they will all continue to make us proud and work as a TEAM to achieve their dreams and make more “Dance Memory Moments!”
