Wishing a wonderful retirement to our longtime harpist, Joan Eidman! We are so lucky to have been graced with her beautiful musicianship over the past 45 years!!

Joan Eidman studied harp with Alice Chalifoux at the Cleveland Institute of Music and in Camden, Maine.

She enjoyed being a versatile orchestral performer for symphony, opera, ballet, and musical theatre for more than 50 years.

She fell in love with the harp hearing her mother play as she went to sleep at night, and when she played a run of The Fantasticks in her 19th summer at a local Houston dinner theater she fell in love with the theater.

June 22, 2025 marked her last performance with Houston Ballet after 45 years. She said, ā€œIt has been my honor and my joy to perform with my colleagues for so many generations of dancers. It’s a wonderful thing to devote your life to artistic endeavor.ā€œ

We are in awe of her dedication to this orchestra, the company, and the music. She has played over 1500 Nutcracker performances! We will miss her infectious smile and joyous laughter šŸ¤
