Contemporary art gallery located in Houston Texas.

Inman Gallery's mission is three-fold: 1) to showcase the work of a select group of artists, helping to grow the reach of their visions, locally, nationally and internationally, 2) to encourage the local community to support contemporary art-making by collecting the work of living artists and 3) to provide a supportive venue for education and the exchange of ideas. Art League Houston

We’re excited to share Jamal Cyrus’ upcoming performance of 𝙃𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙢 𝙎𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 taking place at Art League Houston on Saturday, October 17, 2026, starting at 5 PM

This sonic and ritual exploration features 2026 Texas Artist of the Year, Jamal Cyrus, who will be joined by poet K. Curtis Lyle and bassist Damon Smith

This performance is being offered in connection with Cyrus’ current solo exhibition, 𝙎𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣 𝘼𝙞𝙧 𝙇𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙧.

This event is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!

Several of Fraleigh’s pantings depict Mary Magdalene, a figure whose identity has been constructed, conflated and rewritten across centuries, yet she continually re-emerges through art history. Here Fraleigh focuses on water and tears as a charged material.

Fraleigh writes:

“If I were gathering ingredients for a spell... what would a tear carry with it? A saint’s tear, a lover’s tear, a tear produced by grief, pleasure or healing would be chemically similar but imaginatively completely different materials. I’m interested in that space where an intense bodily experience becomes devotional or ecstatic—when feeling becomes so overwhelming that it begins to feel otherworldly.”

These works and others are on view in her solo exhibition, I have decided not to be hungry, through October 31, 2026

Friendly reminder that tomorrow is the Art League Houston Annual Gala!

This year’s Gala, co-chaired by Daisy Perez and Sarah Beth Wilson, will take place Friday, October 9, 2026. During the Gala, Jamal Cyrus will be honored as the 2026 Texas Artist of the Year in celebration of his profound influence on Texas’ cultural landscape.

The auction includes works by Jamal Cyrus, Loc Huynh, and Alexis Pye, as well as a tapestry by Angelica Raquel, whose work is currently included in our south gallery exhibition, WITNESS.

We’re thrilled to share that JooYoung Choi’s painting, “Songs of Resilience from the Tapestry of Faith,” has been awarded the Hotel Daphne Acquisition Prize!

Debuting this year, the Hotel Daphne Acquisition Prize devotes funds to purchase up to three artworks from galleries exhibiting at the fair for display in the hotel. Located in the Houston Heights neighborhood, Hotel Daphne is home to the Cat Spring Collection of Bob and Nora Ackerley, featuring contemporary artworks by Texas artists.

Congratulations to JooYoung Choi and many thanks to Hotel Daphne! We’re thrilled that this painting will greet so many travelers visiting Houston for years to come
