Detail of Gabriela Hasper. One of my current projects. Life has been insane, and posting my whereabouts is almost impossible at times- I am trying to catalog each moment as a lot has been going on - and a lot more in the works. Business is active, and in flow, I feel grateful about API’s activity and direction. Biggest struggle is social media! 😂 and 😭!! One day I hope to hire someone to do this for me. 😆

 I’m back! Happy 2023! Upon my arrival, I was greeted with the rude welcome of a full website remodel, or whatever it means when your web guy says, “it doesn’t look good- we need to start over!” So here we go. Fresh new year, fresh new site, and fresh faces will be gracing the API office. I am are excited about the year ahead!!! I am working on a new landing page while the rebuild occurs! Anyone have website/branding professionals they love? I am all ears! In the mean time, I’ve made a resolution to “do this social media thing” and “post” what I do so YOU know - IYKYK. What is ART PORTFOLIO INC doing today? We are appraising and cataloging a collection of photographs by Robert Mapplethorpe. He is best known for his powerful black-and-white portraits, self-portraits, and still-life’s. Mapplethorpe’s photographs both challenge us and present us with images of classical beauty. Mapplethorpe was highly attuned to his medium’s more formal and traditional elements; his pictures are deeply concerned with composition, texture, balance, and beauty. These aspects are particularly evident in his later studio work which feature nudes, florals, and portraiture.

What am I doing today? Currently appraising and cataloging my second large scale Jean Dubuffet ThĂ©Ăątres de mĂ©moire work on canvas. I am honored to get to work with such beautiful and historic art.—- Appraisal work strengthens my clients ability to navigate the art market by supplying them with current, factual, non-biased, data regarding their very valuable art asset!

A bit about this series: The ThĂ©Ăątres de mĂ©moire is one of Dubuffet’s most important series of works, and contains some of the largest paintings he ever made. The series, which Dubuffet started at age 74, also marked a new technique for him and a redefinition of his art. Each work is a vast picture made up of smaller paintings, which the artist cut out and glued to the canvas. He began his process on his studio floor, where he would arrange different combinations of cut-out figures and scenes. He then used magnets to pin the paper or canvas to the wall, allowing him to easily replace one element with another, and to overlap segments until he reached his final compositions—some spanning up to nearly eight feet high by twelve feet wide.
