The Great Departure 💫 Le Grand Départ

Today, for the first time, Siddhartha ventures beyond the palace walls. He sees, hears, and smells things he’s never seen, heard, or smelled before—gray hair, missing teeth. A walking stick held by trembling hands. Skin covered in sores, convulsions. Jagged breathing. Cries, screams, chants. Flowers, fire, and smoke. A body covered by a cloth. Siddhartha asks, “What is this? Why is it so?”

Sneak peak from rehearsal today. THE GREAT DEPARTURE performance tomorrow 12/2 at 7:30pm Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston

This work is a poetic interpretation exploring a pivotal moment when Prince Siddhartha in ancient India left the palace and renounced his royal life in search of answers to humanity’s suffering. Drawing from Eastern and Western artistic influences, this cross-cultural work bridges a 2,500-year-old story with contemporary expression. 🎭
