At this year’s Meeting Place Portfolio Review, our panel, Creative Conversations – Photobooks as Practice: Making, Meaning, and Circulation, examined the photobook as a powerful site of artistic practice and exchange.

Moderated by Alison Nordström, speakers Jessi Bowman, Luis Delgado-Qualtrough, Jon Evans, and Clifton Meador discussed authorship, design, self-publishing, and how photobooks shape contemporary photographic discourse and connect with audiences.

Thank you for joining us for this year's Biennial 2026, "Global Visions: FotoFest at 40!" We are grateful to the FotoFest community for its participation and support.

The FotoFest office will be closed from June 15 through June 26, 2026. We will reopen on Monday, June 29, 2026.

FotoFest was thrilled to co-present Three by Three in "Ten by Ten" with Nameless Sound for an interactive evening of experimental sound!

Stationed in different areas of the "Ten by Ten" exhibition, experimental musicians Megan Easley, Ruairi Obrien, and Laura D***s responded to the works by weaving together a single piece of music through overlapping solo and duo improvisations. Guests engaged in the sonic dialog by roaming the space as the performance took place.

We partnered with Fulbright Association to bring you Reflections at 40: A Conversation with Wendy Watriss and Steven Evans.

Following an introduction by Professor Emeritus Howard Bossen, Watriss and Evans discussed the central exhibition, "Global Visions," and how FotoFest engages an international audience.

Within Uncle Bob's Photo Zine & Book Market, our Learning Program hosted an all-ages workshop, FotoFun Family Day: Zine-making!

In this hands-on experience, guests gained insight into the world of bookmaking by creating their very own mini-zines with personal and provided materials.

50+ vendors and hundreds of guests came together to support the self-published works of Southern artists and photobook makers in a two-day fair of fun, creativity, and community.

"An Evening of Sound and Verse," co-presented with ALMAAHH, featured a synergetic commingling of live music and poetry alongside the impactful photography of the FotoFest Biennial 2026.

Multimedia artist Sofia Silueta drew upon her rose-adorned cello in a performance of ritualistic sound as Houston Poet Laureate Reyes Ramirez recited poetry reflecting a deep engagement with language, culture, and place, activating the space with incredible interdiscplinary presence.
