Big H.A.W.K. wasn’t just part of the Screwed Up Click, he became the Five Star General. ⭐️💙
Born John Edward Hawkins in Houston, H.A.W.K. was Fat Pat’s older brother and one of the original members of the Screwed Up Click. Pat brought him around DJ Screw, where H.A.W.K.’s deep voice and writing ability became part of the sound that helped define Houston rap.
He later formed Dead End Records and released Under H.A.W.K.’s Wings in 2000, which reached No. 68 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. His 2002 self-titled album H.A.W.K. reached No. 45 and included “You Already Know,” known by many Houston fans as “Chillin’ Wit My Broad.”
H.A.W.K. also appeared on Lil’ Troy’s “Wanna Be a Baller” and later on Trae’s “Swang” alongside Fat Pat.
After the losses of Fat Pat and DJ Screw, H.A.W.K. became one of the people helping keep the S.U.C. family together, mentoring younger artists and carrying the culture forward.
He was killed on May 1, 2006, at only 36 years old, but his voice, leadership and influence are still part of Houston forever.
