Music Education
Our music division, Maestro School of Music, offers private lessons in piano, guitar, violin, voice, harp, flute, and trumpet and group piano and guitar classes. Our talented instructors introduce students to the exciting and colorful world of music, emphasizing both technique and artistry while incorporating singing, ear training, and movement into lessons. Special Needs
The Special Needs department offers programs benefiting high functioning students of all ages diagnosed with autism, Asperger syndrome, Down syndrome, ADD, ADHD, and hearing or visual impairment. Students are placed with experienced and capable special needs teachers for monthly activities such as cooking classes, arts and crafts, and hand chime or vocal choir. Community performances and participation in local festivals and events are a highlight for our students. Culture Immersion
Culture Immersion classes in Chinese, French, and Spanish equip students with valuable communication skills and delve into the culture behind each language. Students explore holidays, cuisine, folk art, and dance traditions while learning the language.

🎹 ABRSM at Campbell Learning Center

Campbell Learning Center is proud to serve as an official ABRSM in-person exam location in Houston, making the ABRSM exam experience more accessible to students, teachers, and families in our community.

At CLC, we believe that music exams are about much more than receiving a score or certificate. With the right preparation, ABRSM exams can help students set clear goals, stay motivated, build confidence, and develop their musicianship through a structured path of progress.

Our experienced faculty work with students throughout the preparation process while keeping musical growth and enjoyment at the heart of their learning.

We are also very proud of our CLC students who have successfully completed ABRSM Practical and Theory exams, including students who have earned Merit and Distinction across different grade levels. 🌟

As an official in-person exam location, we look forward to continuing to support students and teachers throughout the Houston music community.

Campbell Learning Center is excited to offer Group Violin Lessons exclusively for SBAI students this fall!

Join Ms. Qian Chang for an engaging group violin experience where students can build fundamental violin skills, develop musicianship, and enjoy making music together.

Meet Our Teacher: Dr. Kami Ghavi Helm

Born in France to a family of musicians, Dr. Kami Ghavi Helm began studying solfège at age 4 and started violin and piano at age 6.

Dr. Kami holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. As a performer, he has appeared in a variety of settings, including as a soloist with orchestra, an orchestral musician, and a chamber musician.

Dr. Kami is also deeply interested in music education and has more than ten years of teaching experience in violin, piano, and music theory, both privately and in collaboration with various institutions.

Outside of music, Dr. Kami enjoys baking for family and friends and taking walks with his dog, Jeni. He is fluent in English, French, Persian, and Spanish, and enjoys learning new languages.

Dr. Kami currently offers online lessons only at Campbell Learning Center.

🎹 Meet Our Faculty — Mr. Tommy Scott

Meet Tommy Scott, one of our piano faculty members at Campbell Learning Center!

Tommy is an alumnus of Florida A&M University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance, and he later received his Master’s degree from the University of Houston. He also holds a teaching certificate in Music Theory from Houston Baptist University.

Inspired by his musician father, Tommy began exploring music at a young age and developed a strong foundation in classical piano, music theory, and performance. At age 16, he was selected to participate in Rice University’s Summer Program for Musicians, where he further developed his musical perspective and passion for piano.

As a performer, Tommy has appeared with the Brazosport College Jazz Band and in various church performances.

As a teacher, Tommy brings a fun, welcoming, and thorough approach to each lesson. He enjoys helping students build strong musical skills while creating an encouraging learning environment tailored to each student.

We are grateful to have Tommy as part of the CLC faculty!

Meet Our Piano Faculty: Ms. Chi Yang 🎹

Chi Yang is a pianist and dedicated music educator with extensive training in both piano performance and collaborative piano. Originally from China, she began studying piano at the age of five and received recognition in several competitions, including the Beijing Art Festival Piano Competition, Hong Kong International Piano Competition, and Yamaha National Piano Competition.

Chi holds a B.A. in Music Education from Capital Normal University in Beijing, a Master’s degree in Piano Performance from New Mexico State University, and a Master’s degree in Collaborative Piano from the University of Houston. She also brings valuable teaching experience from music schools in the Houston area, working with students of different ages and backgrounds.

At CLC, Chi is committed to helping students build a strong musical foundation while developing confidence, expression, and a lasting enjoyment of music.

Meet Our Piano Faculty: Dr. Shu-Peng Wang

Shu-Peng Wang is a pianist, educator, and arts administrator who serves as Piano Director at Campbell Learning Center (CLC) in Houston. In this role, he oversees piano instruction, organizes student performances and competitions, contributes to curriculum development, and helps create meaningful performance and educational opportunities for CLC students.

Shu-Peng brings a distinctive interdisciplinary perspective to music. In addition to his musical training, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from National Taiwan University, an academic background that has influenced the way he approaches musical interpretation and artistic thinking.

He studied piano in Taiwan with Hua-Rong Yen and later continued his training in the United States. He earned his Master of Music in Piano Performance from Boston University, where he studied with Pavel Nersessian, and his Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Houston, studying with Dr. Tali Morgulis and Dr. Andrew Staupe. His teachers and musical influences also include Tanya Gabrielian and pianist Martha Argerich.

As both a performer and educator, Shu-Peng is committed to helping students develop strong musical foundations, artistic independence, and confidence in performance. Through his leadership at CLC, he continues to expand educational programs and support students at different stages of their musical development.
