Arts In Motion/In-Step Dance Company present DANSCAPE Concert once a year, a professional and artistic approach to educating the community on the Performing Arts. Danscape invites professional dance companies to come together as an artistic community and allows choreographers to put their creative works on stage allowing them to express themselves with different genres of dance and performing art
s. They want to continue their quest to keep youth arts programs alive through the educational programs and outreach services through Arts In Motion. Not only do local professional dance companies get to perform in a Theatre Venue it allows young artist to see first-hand how a dance concert can give back and be a part of something amazing and Every year through the help of Danscape we are able to bring holiday performances to the children and families at the Ronald McDonald House at the Houston Medical Center, bringing dinner, stuffed animals and gifts to all the families. Since 2005 the concert also helps raise awareness for Ovarian Cancer and Can-Care, bringing speakers in to discuss the importance of Women Care. CanCare is a support network with a mission to improve the quality of life for the cancer survivors and their families and provide emotional support for those diagnosed with Cancer. After a long battle, Ms. Loving-Sparks lost her mom Ms. Rebecca Loving to Ovarian Cancer and Leukemia November 2011. This will be a one year tribute to her celebration of Life and love for the Arts.
“Giving back through the Art of Dance is a way to raise awareness but most important, to honor survivors and those lost to cancer." Works in the program represent many styles of dance, including modern, ballet, jazz, and Hip-Hop! Danscape is not only about Dance but Music and Singing. Special Guest appearances by National Recording Artist Johnny B. Williams, and Broadway Singing by Mallory Bechtel from the Theatre Under the Stars. This year’s Concert Features Planet Funk, Ballet Theatre of Houston, City Dance Center Group, Dance Zone, In-Step Dance Company and more. Choreographers include Shawn Welling, Robert Underwood, Dana Loving-Sparks, Sheila Milner, Sherese Campbell, Megan Anderson and Margie Kreutz
Proceeds of this Concert will be used towards Outreach Programs (Ovarian Cancer Awareness, Can-Care, Ronald McDonald House Activities) Develop Scholarships for graduating seniors who are pursuing a degree in the Fine Arts, but most important, offset operational and promotional expenses.
