They call me chaos.
They fear my name, whispered with the thunder that cracks open the spine of silence.
But I am not destruction. I am transformation.

I am Oya —
Daughter of the Niger,
Mistress of the whirlwind,
Mother of nine,
Wife of Sango, the thunderous one.

Do you feel that wind curling around your neck? That is me —
I arrive with storm clouds, not to ruin but to remind.
Nothing grows where the air is still.
Nothing is born where nothing dies.

I am the breath before battle. The scream of the hurricane.
The dance of dust in the graveyard, where old spirits rest and new ones rise.
Yes, I walk with the dead,
Not in mourning — but in guardianship.
I hold the keys between this world and the next.
Life begins again at the end of what you once knew.

You want calm?
Then you do not want me.
But if you want power — if you crave truth,
Stand with your face to the storm,
And I will teach you how to dance while the world trembles.

They say I cannot be tamed.
Good.
For I was never made to serve stillness.

I am the wind.

Sango (also spelled Shango, Ṣàngó, or Xangô) is a major Orisha (deity) in the Yoruba religion of West Africa, particularly among the Yoruba people of Nigeria. He is widely known as the god of thunder, lightning, fire, and justice, and is one of the most powerful and revered deities in Yoruba cosmology.
