Hey - it’s Suz!

I’ll be at my Houston studio today, clearing out inventory to make room for new projects. I’ve been focused on modern geometric designs for a while and I’m thinking about mixing in a bit of a maximalist vibe. What are your thoughts on that combination?

If you’re around The Silos today, feel free to stop by, or just drop me a message 👋🏻

A few weeks ago, during Second Saturday, a couple walked into my studio. They had come specifically to see my work—or so they said. At first, I wondered if they were just being kind, but the moment felt different. For the first time, I realized my work had made a real connection with the Houston community, drawing people in to see what I had created. What began as an exciting moment to share my art turned into something far deeper and more serendipitous.

The piece they connected with, “Tangent,” is one that’s deeply personal to me, inspired by the work of Terrell, one of my favorite artists. As fate would have it, this couple shares that same love for Terrell and even got married in a church where one of his installations is housed. But the synchronicities didn’t stop there. From outside in, “Tangent” features 15 colors leading up to the electric blue at its center. As it turns out, they were shopping to celebrate their 15-year anniversary.

It’s moments like this that make me believe in the magic of the world—the way paths cross, the way art finds its rightful place. I’m so grateful to have met this incredible couple, and even more so to know that “Tangent” will live with them as a reminder of the love they’ve built together ✨✨✨

Will I see you at The Silos for Second Saturday tomorrow? Come say hi!

Hello! 👋🏻In the last few days, we have had a ton of new folks follow or stop by our page so we think it’s time for a re-introduction. THANK YOU for the likes, follows, comments, and DMs. They help us more than you know!

If you’ve engaged with our content, you probably know at least a little bit about us, but our highlights on IG are only a small piece of our story.

We are Suz & Sam and L&L is our passion project. We are working to create Art for Art and Art for Utility products that make your days more functional and beautiful.

I (Suz) am an Industrial Designer by education and a generalist across the board. I love business, social media (a new found hobby), art, and trying new things. I got over my fear of failure in my adult years, after shedding the pursuit of perfection I had chased as a college athlete. Painting is my jam these days, but I am always imagining how to create different types of art.

Sam is an engineer by education and a generalist in his own way. Sam is a wood purist (don’t even think about asking him to use acrylic pours in his pieces 😜) who finds peace in the wood shop. He is an enigma because of how his engineering brain leaves room for incredible creativity. He is a self taught wood worker and designer, and I am a little scared of how talented he is.

We have an amazing community of friends and family who we love dearly, and we couldn’t have pursued this passion without them. From helping get the wood shop set up with the right equipment to helping hang art in the studio, they have been the backbone to what we’ve accomplished so far.

Shoot us a DM if you’re interested in having a L&L piece in your home! While we love to tell our story, let’s be honest, our goal is to get our name and products into your hands.

It’s summertime in Houston. Which means we will be inside a lot. Which means you need…a sweatshirt?! I think yes.

Swing by studio 134 at The Silos this weekend to claim the last of my sweatshirt stock. I don’t know the next time I’ll do a run of these!

All of these are available as originals or prints. DM me for the details!
