October is Health Literacy Month, and it's a wonderful opportunity for The Foundation for Black Heritage & Culture / Houston Black Heritage Festival to encourage families, young adults, seniors, and our entire community to become more informed and empowered about their health.

Health literacy means having the ability to find, understand, and use health information and services to make informed decisions.

Our message should be simple: When our community understands its health, our community becomes stronger!

💚 HEALTH LITERACY MONTH | KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

At The Foundation for Black Heritage & Culture, we believe that education is one of the greatest tools for building healthier families and stronger communities.

Understanding your health means knowing what questions to ask, recognizing warning signs, understanding medications, and knowing when to seek medical attention.

Too often, people delay getting help because they don't understand their symptoms, their healthcare options, or where to turn for assistance.

We believe everyone deserves access to health information they can understand and trust.

This October, we encourage you to ask questions, schedule your checkups, learn your family health history, and share reliable health resources.

💚 An educated community is an empowered community. A healthier community is a stronger community!

The Shrines of the Black Madonna's declaration of a National State of Emergency calls the Black community to confront renewed realities of racial violence, suspicious deaths, institutional indifference, and the continuing vulnerability of Black life. The declaration must become more than an alarm. It must become a disciplined national program of awareness, investigation, prevention, protection, healing, and institution building.
