This show explores the cultural and social impact of Selena Quintanilla Perez as told by narratives and experiences of the community. More than 26 years after her untimely death, her impact on Texas and Tejano culture resonates into a new generation of fans who may have not been alive during her time. How do we honor and memorialize icons? How does a community and demographic come to terms with generational legacy, cultural impact, and what we learn about ourselves through her?

The show runs April 14-16th, at 730pm in the Bayou Black Box ( the stage of the Bayou Theater.
Tickets are $5.00 for Students with ID, $7.00 General Admission

Who We Are

In 2016, Dr. Andrea Baldwin established the first Storytelling class at the University of Houston - Clear Lake. It exists as a unique blend of Performance and Communication Studies that is found nowhere else at UHCL.

The UHCL Storytellers are a current students who are either enrolled in or have completed the Storytelling course. We seek to continue our education through participation in biannual shows hosted on the Bayou Theater stage and represent UHCL at widely attended Performance Studies Festivals such as Petit Jean, and Patti Pace.
