Trent and Michelle Haynes met in 2003 and started dancing and competing together in 2004. Together, they have won City, State, Regional and National Championships in the Pro-Am divisions and are 3-time (2008, 2009, and 2011) National Slow Whip Champions at the America's Classic Championships (ACC). ular instructors, and continue to teach and judge, as well as competing and placing in events around the nation. They have been teaching West Coast Swing and Whip together since 2005 and currently are heading up the West Coast swing program at SSQQ Dance Studio in Houston. Their students enjoy the combination of humor and technical skill that they bring to each class. They began teaching Slow Whip in 2008 as demand for this dance has grown. Trent Haynes has been dancing since he was 17 when his mother told him it was time to learn to dance! He's been hooked ever since to whip and west coast swing. Trent has won many City, State and National Championships, including 2 Dallas DANCE championships, since 1989 and continues to compete on the national circuit at the Pro and Champion levels. Most recently, Trent won 1st place in the All Star Jack and Jill Division at the 2012 Dallas DANCE Championships as well as achieving his 5th Slow Whip win at the 2013 ACC. Trent is a sought after teacher, known for his attention to detail and technical knowledge of the dance. Michelle Haynes began dancing in 1998 in East Coast Swing, Two Step/Polka and Lindy Hop. She discovered West Coast Swing in 2001 and has never looked back! She started competing in 2003, winning her first City Championship. She is currently a Rising Star competitor, having won City, State, Regional and National Championships at the Novice Amateur levels, including the Novice Traditional championships at Dallas DANCE in 2007. She has won the Top Female Pro award at the Houston DanceCity Championships in both 2009 and 2012. Most recently, she placed 1st in Advanced Jack and Jill at the 2012 Michigan Classic and 1st place with her new Rising Star routine with Chip DiStefano at the 2012 Michigan Classic and the 2013 ACC. Michelle and Trent are available for private lessons in West Coast Swing and Slow Whip, individually or as a couple.
