UPDATE:

Thanks to everyone who submitted.

We’re receiving submissions from mostly black kids. I’ve added those submissions to our data base for possible future projects, but unfortunately they’re not right for this project.

The black eyed children have extremely pale skin and completely black eyes and hair. Supposedly… 😊 Please read the character description.

At this point we’re probably have to go with a talent agency. Thanks again for submitting. We’ll keep you in mind for other projects.

CASTING NOTICE

Now that we’ve cast our principal characters, we’re looking for children between the ages of 8-12 to play the Black Eyed Children in the “B-roll” segments and reenactments for our documentary on the Black Eyed Children.

Extremely easy gig. All the kids need to do is stand still, hide behind things, and look creepy. Most shots will be done in front of a green screen, but we may try to do some on location. These will be night shoots.

Kids should be:

-Between 8-12 years old.
-Black or dark hair.
-Very light complexion.
-Completely black eyes! Entire eye should be black! Or… Okay if they don’t have black eyes I guess we can use a computer.

$15/shoot. Each shoot will take about 30 min. to 1 hour. Kids may be asked to do multiple shoots. Current picture or headshots will be helpful.

Please DM or send an email to [email protected] if interested in this project.

PERFORMERS NEEDED FOR TERRIFYING DOCUMENTARY

We are Looking for actors to perform interviews and reenactments for a paranormal documentary about the Black-eyed Children. Each subject will be scheduled and recorded individually in seated, interview-style. Participants may also have the opportunity to do reenactments for “B-roll” footage, as needed. A script will be provided of the actual encounters, and the performer should deliver a believable account of the experience.

Dates and location will be discussed with participants once we have all the necessary performers, or scheduled with individual actors as they become available.

Compensation is $75/flat. Each shoot will take around 2-3 hours and will most likely take place in Houston at a rented studio.

A breakdown of actors needed is listed below:

“Lone Camper” a young MALE mid-20’s – mid-30’s. Should appear convincing as a rugged “outdoor-type”. Adventure-seeker. Encounters kids in the deep woods late at night.

“Weary Driver” a FEMALE 40-55, driving home from work at a chemical plant/refinery who encounters the strange children on a dark, isolated road miles from any civilization.

“Priest/Clergyman (Authoritative Commentary)” MALE 35-65. Advises us very seriously and with great sobriety about the nature of the encounters with the beings known as the Black-eyed Children.

“Late-night Jogger” a young FEMALE mid-20s – mid-30s. Should appear convincing as an avid jogger/athlete, serious about fitness. Goes for a run in a park and encounters a strange black-eyed kid.

“House Sitter” a young FEMALE 16-20. (Could be older if she can play as late-teen). Encounters two terrifying young children who demand to come into the home while she is house sitting for a friend.

“Psychologist/Analyst (Authoritative Commentary)” a FEMALE 35-60. Advises us on the reasons to be skeptical about the Black-eyed children and the reported encounters. Does not believe the creatures are real. This person is very clinical and delivers her commentary with the same sobriety as our clergyman.

“Binger” a MALE 35-55. Recalls being home alone binging TV until he falls asleep. A pair of very small children with solid black eyes knock on his door and confront him with demands to come inside.

If anyone is interested in this project please message this page or send an email to [email protected] for information on sides and audition instructions. Audition will be self-taped. If you’re unable to self-tape just let us know.

Been neglecting the STXFA page. :( NO longer in the RGV, but thinking about bringing back the Film Fests for the Houston area. Not sure about the interest, though.

Film Fest time! Anyone interested in a horror themed fest for October?? Been thinking about bringing the fests back. They're a lot of fun.

02/04/2015

I see the page has been getting a few new likes recently. Welcome, everyone! We'd like to do another fest soon. We used to do them 3 time a year, but a sudden illness and a move out of the RGV kinda derailed us a bit. We'd love to showcase valley filmmakers and talent! Hopefully soon!

Thanks all, and keep doing what you love!

But not to worry, we will refund the fee to anyone who has already submitted their entry. New entry forms are available for download from the website.

This years competition is open to shorts and features, and the more terrifying the better! So have fun and stay safe.

Best of luck! We hope to see you at HorrorFest...and HorrorCon.

Alright folks, submissions for Horror Fest are now open! This fest is a little different from our usual fare. There are no special requirements or specific elements to include in your film. I know some filmmakers have been working on projects since last year in anticipation of this year's Horror-Con, so we didn't want to spoil it for anyone.

If you'd like to submit a film, please visit our website www.stxfilm.com, and download an entry form and the submission guidelines.

Time is extremely limited, so I would encourage everyone who wants to participate to try and get their entries in early. We're accepting shorts (20 min or less) and features, and we're anticipating entries from outside the valley, so it should be an interesting fest.

There are some great filmmaking talent and special effects artists in the valley, and we hope to see some great horror films at Horror-Con this year. Best of luck, and let us know if you have any questions.

Why did none cheer for these "villains"?? They were the good guys!

Why did none cheer for these "villains"?? They were the good guys!

Being a movie villain is not easy. Nobody respects your work, women refuse to date you, and the heroes are always in the business of trying to straight up murder you.
