Houston Cecilia Chamber Choir opens its 2026–2027 season with Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass, featuring double chorus and string orchestra.

What a way to begin a new season! 🎶

Houston Cecilia welcomed both returning and new voices to our first rehearsal, and the energy in the room was incredible. We jumped right into the repertoire and began laying the foundation for our October 4 concert featuring Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass.

There’s something special about the first rehearsal of a season: new voices, familiar voices, new music, and the excitement of discovering what we can create together.

We’re officially underway, and we can’t wait to share this music with you. 🌅

Houston Cecilia Chamber Choir is pleased to announce Kennedy Cavazos as the recipient of the 2026 Joy Krueger Joy of Singing Scholarship.

The scholarship supports undergraduate vocal performance studies at a four-year university in Houston, Texas. Through this scholarship, Houston Cecilia seeks to encourage and promote the continued study of vocal performance and support students as they pursue their musical education.

We are honored to support Kennedy as she begins her studies at Houston Christian University. We recognize the dedication and commitment required to pursue music at the collegiate level, and we are excited to support her as she begins this next chapter of her musical journey.

Congratulations, Kennedy! We wish you every success as you continue to grow, learn, and share your voice through music. 🎶

This season's repertoire includes Ola Gjeilo's Sunrise Mass, our beloved Lessons & Carols, Christmas Joy, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco's Romancero Gitano, and more. Music has the power to connect people, strengthen communities, and create moments that bring us together.

Through Houston Cecilia Chamber Choir’s Community Is Our Song initiative, we are proud to share our music beyond the concert stage and engage with the greater Houston community.

Our recent community engagement at Constellation Field with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys provided an opportunity for Houston Cecilia to sing the National Anthem and represent our organization through the collective voice of our choristers.

This special moment reflects the heart of our outreach efforts: using music to create connection, celebrate community, and build meaningful partnerships. Through performance, education, and collaboration, Houston Cecilia continues to support the cultural life of Houston one musical note at a time.
