Our flock just got a lot fluffier! 🦩

Last month, we welcomed the hatching of a Chilean flamingo chick here at Houston Zoo. Now 49 days old, this chick has already hit important milestones and made splashes by swimming around its pool, eating solid Mazuri Flamingo pellets, and engaging in recall training! Our fluffy friend is set to join the rest of the flock next month once old enough and ready.

Plus, there’s still one big detail we’re waiting to reveal... 👀 DNA results will tell us whether our newest flamingo is a boy or girl, so stay tuned to our social channels for the big gender reveal!

Meet our flamingos and all our feathered friends at our Birds of the World Habitat. Join our daily Meet the Keeper Chats, presented by CenterPoint Energy, at 9:30 a.m to learn more.

Meet the Zoo's new scaliest babies! 🐍🐢🦎

Spooky season is in full swing as we welcomed a new generation of reptiles: baby star tortoises, five eyelash vipers, Hosmer's spiny-tailed skinks, and Henkel's leaf-tailed geckos. Several of these new arrivals are the first of their kind in Houston Zoo history, while others are the result of carefully managed breeding recommendations through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan® (SSP).

Visit the Reptile & Amphibian Building to see these guys inside their shared habitat. YOU help contribute to these growing populations with every Zoo visit! A portion of every ticket goes towards supporting wildlife and our conservation partners from around the world.
