Country music legend Randy Travis was honored this week with the official ribbon-cutting and dedication of The Randy Travis Room inside the historic Nashville Palace in Nashville. The ceremony took place on June 3 as part of a celebration marking the 40th anniversary of his landmark debut album, Storms of Life.

The event was especially meaningful because the Nashville Palace played a major role in Travis' early career. Before becoming a superstar, he regularly performed there under the names Randy Traywick and Randy Ray. The venue's founder, John A. Hobbs, helped support his early musical journey, which eventually led to his record deal and the release of Storms of Life.

According to Nashville Palace owner Barrett Hobbs, the venue renamed its front room "forever and ever" as The Randy Travis Room to honor Travis' lasting impact on both the venue and country music. The celebration included live music, special guests, and fans gathering to recognize one of the most influential traditional country artists of the modern era.

The dedication adds another milestone to a remarkable period for Travis. In recent years, he has continued making public appearances, released AI-assisted new music, and received emotional tributes from artists across the country music world, including at the 100th anniversary celebration of the Grand Ole Opry earlier in 2025.

REMEMBERING Doc Watson, American guitarist, songwriter and singer of bluegrass, folk, country, blues and gospel music died aged 89. Watson won seven Grammy awards as well as a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. His flatpicking skills and knowledge of traditional American music are highly regarded. The first song he learned to play on the guitar was "When Roses Bloom in Dixieland", first recorded by the Carter Family in 1930. He performed with his son Merle for over 15 years until Merle's death in 1985 in an accident on the family farm.

REMEMBERING Jimmie Rodgers, singer, songwriter, who was among the first country music superstars and pioneers, died while staying at the Taft Hotel; he was only 35 years old. Rodgers was also known as "The Singing Brakeman", "The Blue Yodeler", and "The Father of Country Music." Rodgers sold over 12 million records and was the first person to be elected into the Country Music Hall Of Fame.

A viral video from a country-music creator slammed the track as “AI-generated country music,”, “the stereotype people make fun of,” and something that “sounds like a 4-year-old wrote it.”

The criticism centers on the song’s ultra-simple hook and lyrics focused on fishing, hunting, golf, drinking, and rural lifestyle clichés.

Clips from the unreleased track quickly spread online and turned into memes.

Bryan has now addressed the backlash directly, saying the song was never intended to be deep or serious.

He explained, “It’s supposed to be fun. Not every song has to change your life.” Bryan also joked that people criticizing it were probably “overthinking a summer song.”

The controversy has sparked a bigger discussion online about “bro-country” stereotypes, songwriting quality in mainstream country, and whether viral/simple songs are hurting the genre.

Best known for his work in the Bluegrass duo The Foggy Mountain Boys he was also known as "Flatt and Scruggs," with banjo picker Earl Scruggs who performed "The Ballad of Jed Clampett", which was used as the theme for the television show The Beverly Hillbillies. He also released many solo and collaboration works and hed been a member of Bill Monroe's band during the 1940s.

Who's excited for the New Season of The Voice? 🤚

Country star Riley Green has officially been announced as a new coach on NBC’s The Voice for Season 30. He’ll join returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine this fall, with one final coach slot still unannounced.

The teaser campaign had fans guessing. The show spent days teasing a mystery “country” coach with cowboy hats, camouflage imagery,
barns and outdoor scenery, and captions hinting at a Southern country artist.

Fans quickly guessed Riley Green correctly before NBC officially confirmed the news on May 9.

This marks Riley Green’s first time as a coach on a singing competition show, and arguably his biggest television role yet. The move is also being viewed as NBC’s attempt to strengthen the show’s country identity after Blake Shelton left the series.

Fans online are calling Green “the perfect country replacement,”, “the next Blake,” and “a reason to watch again.”

One viral part of the announcement was a voice message from Kelly Clarkson congratulating Green while jokingly warning him that:
