As DUAL’s Artist in Residency comes to a close, we asked him to reflect on what made his time with Midtown Houston most memorable. 🎨🌿
Here’s what DUAL told us:
🙌 The Midtown Team: The people were one of his favorite parts of the experience. DUAL shared how much he appreciated Cynthia and Chandler for being there throughout the residency and always being willing to help. He also gave a special shoutout to Madison for making the marketing and interview process fun, and to David from building management for always making him feel welcome. For DUAL, the support he received from the Midtown team made a lasting impression.
🤝 The Connections: DUAL told us the residency opened doors to new people, organizations, resources, and opportunities he may not have encountered otherwise. More importantly, he’s leaving with relationships he believes will continue to support his journey as an artist.
🎨 The Studio: Having 24-hour access to his own creative space gave DUAL room to experiment, brainstorm with his assistant, work on tape collages, and develop new skills in animation and 3D rendering. He described the studio as his own little “lab”—a place where he could focus, learn, and create whenever inspiration struck.
As Midtown Houston’s first-ever Artist in Residence, DUAL brought his creativity and curiosity into the space—and leaves behind connections that extend well beyond the studio.
Thank you, DUAL, for being part of this first chapter. ⭐
