I have dissected, and participated in the dissection of, over 80 human cadavers for the purposes of studying human anatomy and teaching it to future medical professionals. Inside of the human body are some of the most beautiful and elegant functional designs found in nature. These designs are rarely visible and represent organic marvels of engineering found in almost all of us (anatomy always has variations and exceptions).

The Circle of Willis is one of those beautiful, symmetrical structures found inside of the skull at the base of the brain that actually contains an arterial loop. Normally arteries taper to capillaries and then expand to veins for their return to the heart. It is rare for arteries to form loops because blood really only flows in one direction and loops would cause turbulence and circulation problems. The Circle of Willis is an exception. It must take a path that leaves a space for one of our most important glands…the pituitary gland, often called the master gland for its influence over other glands throughout the body.

This artwork illuminates and celebrates the elegance of this arterial complex.

So today is THE day that I announce a new venture. I have added a new fine art print business! All of the artworks are mine and reflect a fairly unique process I have been evolving over time involving digital watercolor and CGI. The initial offerings include figurative, portrait, and anatomical subjects with plans to expand into several other interests. I am open to subject matter suggestions and commissions are welcomed!
