Title: “Shall Inherit the Earth”
Size: 28” W × 40” H × 5” D
Medium: Wood frame, oil painting on coffee & sand mixture, sunflower seeds, pennies, faux sunflowers, mixed media objects

🌿✨ New Original Artwork for Sale! ✨🌿

This piece invites you into a quiet, powerful moment — a Black woman holding golden cowrie shells, hand-painted on a textured coffee-infused canvas framed by elements of a garden bed. Sunflower seeds, pennies, and delicate fake sunflowers are embedded in the earth-like surface, while a miniature shovel and gardening gloves are attached to the frame, evoking the nurturing act of tending to growth.

Inspired by the idea of participation, like Las Meninas, the viewer becomes part of the scene — stepping into the garden, connecting with the ritual of care and legacy.

Every detail is a symbol: cowrie shells speak to heritage and wealth, the garden tools to growth and nurture, and the earth tones to rootedness and resilience.

This work is more than decoration — it’s an invitation to hold space for nature, culture, and empowerment.

The finished commission.
Commissions are interesting because they help me track how much I’ve improved as far as technique. Usually I’d struggle with a selfie reference because the picture in itself is flattened by the camera so I have to invent the depth of the face using knowledge of facial anatomy and the elements of art. Before I wasn’t doing that so it’d look sticker-like to me. But this painting doesn’t feel like a selfie-ish.

“Untitled”
Coffee and Sand in Wooden Frame.

FOR SALE (message for inquiries)

Finally posting this piece, made of coffee and sand with a wood frame. Plays with the idea of combining masculine and feminine elements, combining stability and fragility. The cracking of the coffee across the face, surrounded by a sturdy, thick wood frame. A man painted with flowers in hand and surrounding him. The piece overall showcases vulnerability and power in portraiture.

Rooted in the past, reaching for the future. This series reflects the beauty of transformation—building on what’s been passed down, worn, or forgotten, and creating something new, vibrant, and alive. From weathered wood and fabric to flowers and found materials, every piece tells a story of resilience and renewal.

Forgot to post the finished look for this piece.
“Rosa” Oil on Canvas. 48 by 36 in.

Overall I think there is a balance between contemporary and traditional elements when it comes to this portrait. It was tough to refrain from totally rendering everything, I could have made everything realistic but I wanted to challenge myself and make it less predictable and more interesting for the viewer.

Making progress on this piece, I want more and more transparency and less rendering as the figure gets closer so we’ll see if I can resist rendering everything completely.
