Watercolor fruit slices! These are color studies, I love making them and they look so cool, lots of little beautiful things happening in the mix.

Today I am painting with no rush, which feels like wandering around underwater, picking up little things. Hopefully will have some pieces finished to share soon.

One of the things I love about nature around the Texas Gulf coast is the blend of plants. I love seeing a magnolia tree blooming next to a palm tree, making well covered shade next to a porch, and this if their time of year. Magnolia trees are everywhere. Their green leaves are strong like rubber, and the flowers bloom like this too. This magnolia flower is for a friend, about the memory of a place in time, and making the time to choose to cultivate an intentionally peaceful way to hold energy in the ever unfolding present.

3 wave paintings for my sister for Mother’s Day, plus one more for a Mother friend who loves the feeling of Costa Rica like me.
One of the beautiful things about waves is that there is always another one coming, and they love it when you are there for them.
On the back of my sister’s waves I wrote little notes. One of them says, “I love you Michele. You are nice. Love, Cynthia”
Which is the same note she wrote to me on top of my drawing table in red colored pencil over 30 years ago. I don’t know if she remembers writing it 💛
My sister and I both have creative studio spaces in our homes now 🕊️ Hers is just off the kitchen in the center of the house where she raises her 6 children, because life is for living and it is always happening there.

These pictures were taken on her dining room table, where we all have chairs, 18 today.

The same orchids painted at night, in the morning and in the afternoon. The light completely changes. At first I loved the process but wasn’t into how the colors muddied and didn’t quite make sense, but now I just love how it comes to life slowly
