Come and join us for our monthly Blues, Brews, and Good News night! This two-hour event includes a live performance by a band, time to socialize over curated drinks (adult and non), and a panel discussion on a current topic affecting our society.

Topic: Civic Rights in Houston: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Join us to hear about the story of desegregation in the city of Houston and civil rights movements since. Who was Eldrewey Stearns and how did he help kick off the desegregation movement in Houston? How can his life and witness inform our own work in expanding equity to all people? Mr. Rudolph Stearns, Eldrewey’s brother, will be one of the panelists in this important discussion. We’ll see you there!

The topic is Death and Dying. Focusing on helping people and families to start the process of thinking through the practical matters of dying.

Although this isn't exactly an upbeat topic, it is one that is relevant for all of us. Thinking about our own mortality or thinking about the plans for a loved one who may pass before us. Being prepared (financially, emotionally, mentally) is helpful for the future.

We sure hope to see you at the revival of Blues, Brews, and Good News. Our topic is "Religion in Houston Public Schools: Contemporary Challenges Facing Children, Parents, and Teachers."

The beer is procured. The offerings are Saint Arnold Oktoberfest, Southern Star Bombshell Blonde, and 11 Below Hipster Sauce.

Side Pocket will be playing the Blues.

The event is free. But we are suggesting a $15 at-will donation.
