He is recognized for his career during the golden age of merengue, having worked with orchestras such as Los Hermanos Rosario, Camboy Estévez, the group Tambó, and La Artillería, among others, before eventually focusing his musical life on the Christian genre.
His son, Moisés Sánchez, has enjoyed a successful career since 2012, when he was recruited by Shakira’s team—on the recommendation of urban merengue artist El Cata—to produce several merengue tracks for her, including “Loca,” “Rabiosa,” and “Addicted to You”; that opportunity brought him into the spotlight for other artists.
He earned his first Latin Grammy thanks to Eddy Herrera’s 2021 album *Ahora*—winner in the Best Merengue/Bachata Album category—on which Sánchez served as producer and handled the mixing and mastering for several tracks.
However, Moisés Sánchez has been working more prolifically than ever this year, producing songs for various artists from the Dominican Republic and abroad, as he revealed during an interview on the program *Aquí está el merengue* (hosted by the author and Yuderky Vásquez on Rumba 98.5).
“I am amazed by the number of artists from different countries calling me to work with them. I think it all started when Venezuelan merengue artists Omar Enrique and Aceno called me; I produced their album *Los Omares*, from which they released the merengue track ‘Vida,’ which has become an international sensation,” Sánchez said on the show.
