It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice... or take a stand... or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs for a New World. The first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (Parade, The Last 5 Years, Bridges of Madison County), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make.

Brown transports his audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge 57 stories above Fifth Avenue, meeting a startling array of characters that range from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of his humble beginnings to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams... and a soulless marriage.

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Houston theatre artist, Rita Hughes. Rita appeared in our co-production of The Color Purple as Church Lady Jarene. Founding Artistic Director, Logan Vaden, shared, “To know Rita was to know love. She was kind, resilient, and always ready for a challenge. Just a couple of short months ago I text her to check in. She told me she was fighting the good fight, but she quickly changed the subject to what I was working on. Thats just who she was. She was selfless. She was brave. She was determined. She fought hard over the years and beat cancer multiple times. I know this time was no exception. I know she fought to the end. She was the best of us, and she will be so sorely missed.” We are sending love and support to Rita’s friends, family, students, and her fellow artists who love her so very much. Rita’s legacy will live on through her students and the stages she worked on all over the city. 💜

Calling all muses! We are taking video submissions for our next production, which will perform at MATCH in August! Contractually, we're not allowed to tell you what it is until next month, but maybe we can drop some hints... It's a musical based on an Olivia Newton-John movie that is sure to make you want to roller skate right into the '80s. This campy, good-time of a show will have you feeling like the powers of Zeus's daughters are inspiring you. Submissions are due no later Saturday, June 6.
