of our Simply Sacred Rehearsal Last Night. We are covering every sacred music genre from Handel to Elevation worship. This is a special program that highlights the diversity of sacred music through diverse singers and composers. Our singers are Antonio Adame, Julie Allison, Nikia Giddings, James Gooden, Errin Hatter and Brandon Veazey.
We will be joined by the Edison Arts Community Chorus and the Wrights Youth Music Ensemble, two community organizations that we have had the pleasure of connecting with this year.
We'd love to know you're coming! RSVP TODAY so we can save a space for YOU for this fun, interactive concert.
One thing about our performances, is we love a good time! Have a seat, relax, nibble on light bites, sing along or simply take in the atmosphere. We can't wait to see you.
RSVP today (see comments). Entry is free, but your donations are how we keep bringing quality performances of opera, art songs, spirtuals, and so much more. Check us out!

A little throwback to last year's concert as we prepare for our Simply Sacred concert coming up Sunday May 17. Our camera was off center, but there is no missing the rich voice of Kaci Timmons with Erin McDaniels and Errin Hatter accompanied by Melisa Gultan at last year's Juneteenth concert. Join us in one week at Faith Bellaire for a relaxing afternoon of sacred music from classical, contemporary worship, spirituals and gospel. We will be joined by two community vocal ensembles for this concert. You do not want to miss it.

We are inching closer to our Spring Concert each day! Rehearsals are already underway for this special programming that includes the music of Handel, Mozart, Hall Johnson, Margaret Bonds, Elevation Worship and other traditional worship music.

This is a relaxed concert, so put on your spring colors, sip some lemonade or iced tea while you listen to an assortment of beautiful music.

We have light bites available, so let us know you're coming!

Entry is free, but donations are accepted and appreciated.

If you're going to Opera America this year, do not miss this performance!

From the original post:
"Loksi' Shaali'" fun fact: Both the music and libretto are written by Jerod Impichcha̱achaaha' Tate, who is the leading Native American symphonic composer.

“Loksi' Shaali'“ is a new opera which tells the story of how the Chickasaw people received turtle shells for stomp dancing and ceremonies. The first opera to be sung and premiered entirely in a US tribal language, Wilmington Concert Opera brings together principals from the world premiere, as well as new local or Indigenous singers to round out the cast. This groundbreaking work is created by composer/librettist Jerod Impichchaachaaha' Tate, with Chickasaw translation by Joshua D. “Lokosh” Hinson. WCO will showcase highlights from the opera, and will feature operatic singers of the Cherokee, Choctaw, Mvskoke, Pueblo of Acoma, Taíno, and Tiwa Nations and heritages. Wilmington Concert Opera, a women and minority founded and run company, focuses on accessibility and inclusion, and is proud to produce the Delaware premiere of music from Loksi' Shaali'.

Performances are to be held at Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew, 719 N. Shipley St. Wilmington, DE 19801. Performance Dates are May 14, 2026 at 8:00 PM and May 16, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Both concerts are open to the public. Tickets for the May 14th performance are available to Opera America Conference attendees through Opera America, and all other patrons may donate at the door for admission. Suggested donation is $20 per person.

Keep us in mind as you think of nonprofits to donate to this season. We are giving a portion of all donations to the Houston Food Bank this season. Over the years, it has been the support and donations that allow us to present beloved opera and new music to audiences in Houston. Additionally, we have offered free masterclasses to students and emerging artists as well as our 2025 Summer Vocal Intensive for FREE. We'd love to continue that tradition, but we need your help to make it possible! Donate on Giving Tuesday!

Happy Thanksgiving! We're so thankful for the musicians, family and friends that make our work possible! Thank you! Keep...
